  1. Getting a board while the getting's good (MIcro Center actually had some X570 stock today).

I'm not sure what the stock situation is at my local Microcenter. With the lines out the door, I won't go in there. I don't have that kind of patience.
  2. First Core i9-10900K Review Pits Intel’s Flagship Processor Against AMD’s Ryzen 9 3900X and 3950X

Its worth noting that at 14nm, the power curve gets considerably worse as you add cores. The Core i9-10980XE is horrendous as you increase the clock speeds. It can pull more than a lot of entire systems all by itself.
  3. New Rumor Claims That AMD’s Matisse Refreshes Are the Ryzen 9 3900XT, Ryzen 7 3800XT, and Ryzen 5 3600XT

It's not like the Ryzen 9 3900X and 3950X aren't already considerably faster than Intel's Core i9-9900K at most things. As I said in an earlier thread, I don't know how much of an improvement AMD can get from a minor refresh.
  4. AMD Reportedly Prepping Ryzen 7 3850X and 3750X “Matisse Refresh” to Counter Intel’s Comet Lake-S Processors

I don't know how much wind these could take out of Intel's sails. Unless these had significant core clock / boost clock increases or something to improve their gaming performance. Frankly, that's the only place AMD needs help.
  5. Intel Core i9-10900K CPU Review

Yes. I'd have looked more into the anomalous performance if I had the time. That said, its easily something I could have done differently. Those are Frameview captures of manual run throughs. I could have done something with the camera, or did something slightly different that caused that in...
  6. Intel’s Flagship Core i9-10900K and Core i7-10700K in Trouble? AMD Ryzen 9 3900X Pricing Falls below $400

At $389, you'd have to be a super hard core gamer that does nothing else with their machine to buy a Core i9-10900K over the Ryzen 9 3900X.
  7. First Core i9-10900K Review Pits Intel’s Flagship Processor Against AMD’s Ryzen 9 3900X and 3950X

In my testing of the 10900K the total system pulled 305w (GPU idle) and 200w package power. The Ryzen 9 3950X pulled 381w or something like that, and I don't recall what the package power was or if it showed that. AIDA64 shows less information for AMD CPU's in that area. I haven't tried HWInfo...
  8. AMD Commits to a Longer Upgrade Path, Bringing Zen 3 Support to X470 and B450 Chipsets/Motherboards

I tend to upgrade my motherboard with the CPU in most cases. It's rare that I don't.
  9. Intel Core i5-10600K CPU Review

We may create a unified CPU review format at some point in the future. Unfortunately, this was the least amount of lead time we've ever had so Brent and I worked entirely independently to get these done.
  10. Intel Core i9-10900K CPU Review

Intel has always pushed software companies to optimize for Intel silicon going back at least as long as I've worked with computer hardware. There are all kinds of SDK's and programs for doing that. Intel even mentions this in the product brief we got. What little there was of it anyway. But this...
  11. Epic CEO Tim Sweeney Claims That Nothing on the PC Can Compare to PlayStation 5’s Storage Architecture

Well, Epic has always been invested heavily in the console space since Gears of War. From then on it hasn't given two ****s about PC gaming.
  12. ASUS PRIME X570 Pro Motherboard Review

I'd grab an X570 now. There are options cheap enough that I don't think you'll save a lot with B550. I also don't know if it will be quite the same as B450 vs. X470. I think B550 will be quite a bit different given its being produced by ASMedia and not AMD, but its specs won't be quite on par...
  13. Intel Core i9-10900K CPU Review

Yes, it can easily hit DDR4 3600MHz speeds and more. I've addressed the Ryzen 3000 / X570 memory speeds in previous CPU and motherboard review articles. Given the time allotted for getting the 10900K review done by the embargo date, I was not able to retest the 3900X and 9900K under overclocked...
  14. [PR] G.SKILL Shows That Its DDR4 Memory Can Reach Extreme Speeds with 10th Gen Intel Core Processors

In my testing so far, these CPU's do not seem to care if you run a 4xDIMM configuration and speeds upwards of about 4,000MHz are easily achieved.
  15. AMD Changes their mind! 400 Series Motherboards will support Zen3!

Aside from making the microcode available to the OEMs, it really isn't up to them at this point. It's up to motherboard manufacturers to implement it. What sucks is you'll potentially have to switch between different BIOS ROM versions just to support certain CPU's. This is of course problematic...
  16. Intel Core i9-10900K CPU Review

It was set to DDR4 3200MHz speeds which is our testing standard for everything unless otherwise noted. If you look at the specification table, I list the part number for the RAM and then the speed used. That's how I do it for all of these.
  17. Intel Core i5-10600K CPU Review

There are several sites like B&H listing prices for them, but availability is unknown. B&H does list the 10700 for sale. If you go to the drop down, it shows "coming soon" for most of the CPU's. So, availability may be there but its spotty at best.
  18. AMD Changes their mind! 400 Series Motherboards will support Zen3!

Evidently, this decision was more about UEFI BIOS ROM space than the range of VRM implementations of the various X470 and B450 motherboards.
  19. Looking to upgrade my display

I used to use a Samsung KS8500 4K TV for gaming. While it's certainly immersive, being stuck to 60Hz wasn't terribly appealing. And **** a bunch of using a controller. For racing games or fighting games its fine. For everything else I'd rather not use a controller.
  20. [PR] MSI Invites You to Drown All Opposition with Its Very First Liquid Coolers, the MAG CORELIQUID Series

Yes, I am aware of that. I'm not sure how well it will work though. My concern would be that it would make the radiator somehow perform worse. It's a slick looking unit though.
