  1. Steam Begins Warning Players of Early Access Games That Haven’t Been Updated in Months

I don't pay money for incomplete, unfinished games that are still in alpha or beta builds. Release your game to retail, then I'll pay for it.
  2. 77% of Game Developers Believe There Isn’t Enough QA Being Done, New Report Finds as Studios Begin Turning to AI to Refine QA Processes and Optim...

I used to work in game/software QA in the 2000s. I don't think the situation has improved much since then.
  3. The Z Build(s) 3.0 - Go Big and/or Go Home

    Hahahaha, so you did!
  4. The Z Build(s) 3.0 - Go Big and/or Go Home

Oh okay, so you DID make a thread about this project over on this site. I was following it over on [H] but wondering if you had made a thread over here. I guess my search-fu sucks cuz I didn't see it before. I see it now though. Your projects are always incredibly interesting!
  5. ASUS Launches Pre-Orders for the ROG Swift OLED PG27UCDM: “World’s First 27″ 4K OLED Gaming Monitor” Features DisplayPort 2.1a with 80 Gbps...

That would be very nice too. I already do a decent amount of 16:9 5K gaming (5120x2880), using nVidia DSR to downscale 5K to 1440p. I use 5K because DSR works best with a 4x scale factor, and with DSR Smoothness set to 0. Since my monitor is 1440p, 4x scale factor means 5K (as 4K is for 1080p)...
  6. ASUS Launches Pre-Orders for the ROG Swift OLED PG27UCDM: “World’s First 27″ 4K OLED Gaming Monitor” Features DisplayPort 2.1a with 80 Gbps...

Same. It had been a goal of mine since the late 2000s to eventually move to that resolution. But when the time finally came, 1440p was the only real option I had. It was at my last office job in the late 2000s (software QA) where I fell in love with 16:10 monitors. We had a big-@ss range of 'em...
  7. ASUS Launches Pre-Orders for the ROG Swift OLED PG27UCDM: “World’s First 27″ 4K OLED Gaming Monitor” Features DisplayPort 2.1a with 80 Gbps...

So isn't that 2560x1600 then? I love 16:10 sooooo much. I greatly miss it. I want a really nice gaming-grade HRR VRR monitor that is 16:10.
  8. Square Enix Celebrates the Launch of FFVII REBIRTH on PC with New Artwork and a Breakdown of the Latest Features, Including Enhanced Lighting and T...

Yeah, but no one bothers to use the incorrect numbers anymore. I recall what you are talking about though. I believe FF4 was known as FF2 outside of Japan, and FF6 was known as FF3. There may have been others. So thanks localizers, that sh1t wasn't confusing at all. FF7 is when they started...
  9. DOOM: The Dark Ages Will Be the “Most Ambitious DOOM Game to Date” When Prequel Launches for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox App for Windows PC, Steam, P...

I was beating that drum for many years. I wanted one more than a new UT. But then Epic started turning into the Epic we know now, and then I was glad they didn't attempt another single-player Unreal. Cuz then they couldn't ruin it. But it still rubs me the wrong way that the engine series...
  10. The Video Game History Foundation (VGHF) Is Bringing Its Digital Library Online on January 30

My friend had a complete collection, but lost most to water damage. Hearing that story hit like a tackle from Terrible Terry Tate.
  11. AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D Will Perform Similarly to Ryzen 7 9800X3D in Games, According to AMD Exec

Except I don't think it works like that. During gaming, the cores on the CCD that does NOT have the 3D cache get parked.
  12. Square Enix Celebrates the Launch of FFVII REBIRTH on PC with New Artwork and a Breakdown of the Latest Features, Including Enhanced Lighting and T...

I don't care for this IP (or the company), I don't play these games, but I understand how the series is set up. Each game with a roman numeral is standalone. They don't have anything to do with the other ones. They are not sequels to each other, they are not even related to each other. So FF7...
  13. AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D Will Perform Similarly to Ryzen 7 9800X3D in Games, According to AMD Exec

Makes sense, cuz each CCD only has 6 active cores on the 12-core parts. So basically that's a 6-core X3D against an 8-core X3D.
  14. Sony to End Production of Blu-ray Disc Media, MiniDisc for Recording, and More in February: “There Will Be No Successor Models”

I've done the same with some shows/series I own on DVD. I like having the discs, but for actually watching, I just load up the DVD rips. Convenient to have all the episodes together on a hard drive. I don't have to swap discs after a few episodes. Not to mention the loading is much faster. When...
  15. Sony to End Production of Blu-ray Disc Media, MiniDisc for Recording, and More in February: “There Will Be No Successor Models”

Not me. Can't stand streaming. When it comes to movies I always do BD rips. I would actually buy BDs if they had more affordable prices (I do own a few, usually bought at deep discount). I have a BD burner but have never burned a disc. There's no need for it. Not in this age of super-large...
  16. DOOM: The Dark Ages Will Be the “Most Ambitious DOOM Game to Date” When Prequel Launches for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox App for Windows PC, Steam, P...

id Software talks about the game here: So looks like the focus this time is on power over acrobatics. Hugo Martin said in Doom Eternal you were a fighter jet, but in this game game you're an iron tank. A balance between enemy projectiles and player movement that hearkens back to Doom 1 and 2...
  17. Sony to End Production of Blu-ray Disc Media, MiniDisc for Recording, and More in February: “There Will Be No Successor Models”

Do they just mean blank blu-rays? Or will all BDs stop being manufactured, including the ones that movies and games come on from the factories? I had NO IDEA that MiniDisc was still being made! Way back in the late 90s I used a MiniDisc walkman/recorder. I still have a lot of unopened discs...
