  1. Silicon Motion Launches New PCIe 4.0 NVMe 1.4 Controllers Capable of Extreme Speeds

Cant wait for when a Dev learns how to use the speed on game load.
  2. NVIDIA Reportedly Cancels GeForce RTX 3080 (20 GB) and GeForce RTX 3070 (16 GB)

I suspect NV is proactively reacting to the new AMD GPUs - worried about the canceled cards not being sustainable at their inflated price points once the new GPU's come out. Of course it could be for more then 1 reason, or others as well.
  3. Oppo Launching S1 and R1 4K Television Lines

How the Chroma 4:4:4 support and the input lag?
  4. AMD Radeon RX 6000 Series GPUs to Feature TBPs As High As 355 Watts

I am hoping the new AMD GPUs are as disruptive as the Ryzen family has been. The GPU market needs some serious competition at the high end. Yo Intel, I'm speaking at you too.
  5. 3D Without the Glasses: Sony Announces $4,999 Spatial Reality Display

I wonder about things like viewing range, angle, refresh rate, and how many concurrent viewers it can support. I am hoping demo monitors make it out into the wild next month so I can see the magic.
  6. Oculus Quest 2 VR Headset Becomes $299 “Paperweight” after Owners Fail Mandatory Facebook Verification

I will never purchase a product that requires I use Facebook - this has to be impacting the sales.
  7. ASUS TUF GAMING X570 PLUS Wi-Fi Motherboard Review

I could pick up a one or a pair of these: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07KDDKDNN/?tag=thefpsreview-20 or maybe one that lights up to match my Dimms - Any FPS reviews for m.2 cooling options? Gonna be a few weeks before I am up for installing though - could ask my niece over again and cook her...
  8. ASUS TUF GAMING X570 PLUS Wi-Fi Motherboard Review

How does the bandwidth compare with identical pcie gen 4 nvme drives from one socket to the other - I wonder... I had wondered if the one socket got a heat shroud because it was expected to stress the drive more.
  9. ASUS TUF GAMING X570 PLUS Wi-Fi Motherboard Review

I wonder if my book is old then? Or if I am getting the various models I looked at confused. Both being Gen 4 would be nice.
  10. ASUS TUF GAMING X570 PLUS Wi-Fi Motherboard Review

Nice review - I built a system using the non-wifi version last week (well my niece did most the work I just had surgery). The board was easy to work with and while things went slow (for obvious reasons) putting it together was easy enough. One point I didnt see and may have missed in the...
  11. [PR] HyperX Releases Alloy Elite 2 Mechanical Gaming Keyboard with RGB Lighting

I like the look but what do the keys feel like?
  12. [PR] Viper Gaming by Patriot Adds 32 GB Modules into Viper Steel DDR4 UDIMM and SODIMM Performance Memory

More Ram is a good thing. Hope the price isnt too scary.
  13. ASUS’s ROG Strix X570-E Gaming Motherboard Now Supports Every Generation of Ryzen

I dont think 'Crazy' is the right word. If one doesnt have the cash to buy a whole set of parts at once getting the MOBO first is a viable option.
  14. Intel’s 10-Core i9-10900F Reportedly Draws 224 W at 4.6 GHz – the Same TDP as NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 2080

I remember overclocking my Apple //c. Popped out the 6502 with a screw driver and stuck my 'Zip Chip' in the socket. No such thing as cooling - other then opening a window or turning on the AC. I do remember all the Apple // and //+ computers at my high school would start crashing when the temp...
  15. Microsoft Teases New Windows 10 Start Menu Design with Revamped Icons, and It Looks Pretty Great

Icons are such small insignificant things yet like nails or screws things would fall apart without them. I remember when System 7 came out when I was on my Mac FX (wish I still had it) everyone who saw it oohed and awed at how pretty the icons were. Even my Apple hating roomie of the time. I...
  16. Ethernet Technology Consortium Announces 800 Gigabit Ethernet Specification for Ludicrous Speeds

I certainly get the need for better and faster network transport. We have more and more and more data moving about the planet etc. My question... What do I do with all my cat 6? I do wonder what type pf cabling this requires do we finally have to use optical?
  17. Samsung Launches Their First Shipment of Extreme Ultraviolet DRAM with 1 Million Modules Sent Out

More dies per wafer, lower power, higher frequency, is that what I am hearing? They will still somehow manage to increase prices dramatically. Still kinda neat. Maybe time for a new dimm form factor if the die size keeps shrinking.
  18. Intel’s Alder Lake-S CPUs Will Reportedly Feature a Mix of Normal-Sized and Smaller-Sized Cores

I dont see smaller cores as bad depending on the code/system use. If Windows is aware and can leverage the resources correctly this could be a big win for Intel taking chiplets up a level. With a few asic type cores, tensor for AI, enhanced fpu, what have you on top of a solid 4/8 standard...

I can tell 1k from 4k. (56" and 48" TVs as monitors) At least on my computer. Be interesting to test it with video clips and see if I could tell with an 8k tv as a monitor.
