The AMD Ryzen Threadripper 7000 Series, codenamed Storm Peak, will feature SKUs with up to 96 cores, according to Benchleaks, who spotted engineering sample entries (1, 2) listed on Einstein@Home, an application that leverages the idle time of users' computers to search for weak astrophysical signals.

That would be a smoking fast chip… the size of a dinner plate. I totally want one although I have no practical use for it
Same; from what I've seen, the motherboards aren't that much more expensive than the higher-end consumer socketed boards, and the ones for the current Threadripper Pro are even cheaper than the halo consumer boards (Xtreme, Godlike, Extreme...).

While also being rather well equipped with things like TB4 and one or more 10Gbit copper NICs, so you can burn your PCIe lanes on things that need them like storage.

I'm still bitter that there was no Zen 3 drop in upgrade fro my TRX40 system.

I'll probably never buy another Threadripper because of it.

We were promised long term support, but instead got shafted by AMD.
