During yesterday's CES 2020 conference, AMD showed off an Xbox Series X render that swiveled around, revealing a first look at the next-gen console's backside and alleged port configuration (2x HDMI, 2x USB-C, 1x Ethernet).

Unfortunately, it was merely a mock-up. AMD has confessed to The Verge, admitting that the imagery "was not sourced from Microsoft and does not accurately represent the design or features of the upcoming console."

The assets "were taken from TurboSquid.com," a repository of 3D models for "VFX studios, game developers, architects, ad agencies, VR/AR projects, and more."

It’s an embarrassing mistake for AMD to make, especially when Microsoft purposefully didn’t reveal the rear ports during its unveil video last month. Microsoft will be including a regular USB-A port at the front of the Xbox Series X, though.

Wouldn't consider it a mistake. Using publicly available stuff vs something from their labs is safer. Asking MS would be an option of course... Perhaps not enough time.
