Atari’s PC/Console Hybrid Releasing This Fall for $389

It’s been quite a journey, but Atari has revealed that its oft-delayed VCS system will finally be released by the end of this year. Prospective owners can pre-order the PC/console hybrid now for $389.99 through its official site, which claims a guaranteed delivery date before December 24.



For those who haven’t been following along, Atari’s VCS blends the functionality of a computer and video game system. When they’re not gaming, users can switch the console into a “PC Mode,” which can run secondary operating systems such as Windows, Linux, and Chrome.









It’s too early to tell how well the VCS performs, particularly outside of classic games, but the system reportedly comes equipped with an AMD Ryzen Embedded R1000 series processor with Radeon Vega 3 graphics. As for I/O, we’re looking at USB 3.0, HDMI, WiFi, Ethernet, and...

Wow, "Atari" (whomever owns the brand anyway, Atari as a company hasn't existed in decades) chose the worst possible time to launch their new console. Holiday 2020, right when PS5 and XBX coming out. And $379, what a joke.

edit - ah, Infogrames change their name to Atari back in 2009. And now they make casino video games too (I assume that means video poker or slots)
