The original Cities: Skylines has already been praised by many as being one of the best city simulation games ever, but developer Colossal Order Ltd. has evidently been busy with something that should take the genre to even greater heights. Revealed during today's Paradox Announcement Show 2023, Cities: Skylines II is a new mainline installment of the franchise that aims to evolve the city-building genre further, one that will allow players to build the cities of their dreams with the most open-ended city-building sandbox on the planet, according to publisher Paradox Interactive. Cities: Skylines II hasn't received a release date yet, but the game, which is coming in 2023 and described as the most realistic city builder ever, is available for wishlisting at Steam.

The original is a great SimCity type game - can't wait to see what they do with II

Better physics engine, more terrain options and natural looking deformations would be nice. I watch this engineer channel that does crazy stuff would be nice to see.

I was thinking about getting Cities Skylines for years, guess now I'll wait for this.

If you can snag it on sale or in a Humble Bundle it's still very worth while. I probably own the game a few times over just from Humble. I think it's also coming to XBGP.

The only knock I have on it - they have a lot of stuff locked behind DLC. You do not need any of it, it's all just different building types and music and stuff for variety, it doesn't significantly alter gameplay... but still annoying.

Maybe that's the reason I was holding off on buying it now that you mention it, when I saw all the various stuff locked behind DLCs.

I for one think that cosmetic DLCs are worse than P2W in a single player game.
