Intellivision has announced that the first games for its upcoming Amico console are now available for purchase. The announcement is interesting, in that the Amico hasn’t even been released yet and won’t officially debut until the end of the year. Still, Intellivision fans who are already confident that the Amico won’t be a dud can order limited collector’s boxed edition bundles now via its online store.

The most expensive bundle costs $149.99 and comprises eight Intellivision Amico games. They are Evel Knievel, Dynablaster, Missile Command, Rigid Force Redux Enhanced, Moon Patrol, Finnigan Fox, Bigplanes, and Brain Duel.

There are 1 or 2 'classic' games I would ever really want to burn time on again. Otherwise I don't get the nostalgia of when things were worse in gaming. Perhaps simpler is where the nostalgia comes in? That I cold get.

As a kid I spent more hours than I can even calculate playing Utopia. I'd get so mad when a hurricane would destroy my crops.

Yeah, I'd agree. There are very few worthwhile 3rd gen console titles, and this is 2nd gen.

Intellivision did get an actual Pac Man port. Other than that it seems like there were mostly a bun ch of off brand ports. There was a Donkey Kong ripoff (Beauty and the Beast) a Pac Man ripoff (Lock and Chase) a Galaxian/Galaga ripoff (Demon Attack) a partial Space Invaders ripoff (the amusingly named "Astrosmash")

The Intellivision feels very much like the 2nd generation consoles version of what you get from the "We have X at home" meme.

"Mom can we have video game console?"

Mom: "We ahve video game console at home"

I had a 2600, a friend had Intellivision. Only good game (they had) was the baseball game. Then I moved up to C64 and he basically lived at my house after that.

I don't know who woke up in the middle of the night in cold sweat and thought "I must have a new Intellivision!"

I too had the 2600, and my friend had the Intellivision with Baseball and Bowling. Only 2 games I liked from them. I moved from the 2600 to an Atari 800, then to the IBM PC when it first came out in 81 (having an uncle who was an Inventor for IBM helped tremendously with getting one).

I'm the same way. I can't go back and play potato mode looking games from years past.

I had an Intelllivision II and liked it very much. Had plenty of games. Burger Time, bomb squad, b-17, tron, masters of the universe come to mind.

I got an emulator but I really haven't used it much. I'm more hooked on games from the PS era and up.
