How much does a "budget" computer cost to build nowadays anyway?

With or without keyboard, mouse, and monitor. That seems to be what everyone forgets to price in builds lately.

Too true.

Seems like it wasn't that long ago that you could build a decent -- not top tier mind you, but decent, non-chinese knockoff actual name brand stuff -- rig for around $500-600. Without all that peripheral stuff. But that got you an entry level discrete card, a CPU that wouldn't really bottleneck you, a PSU that wasn't a ticking time bomb, a case that wasn't made of jagged razor blades or cardboard, and enough RAM to play any game you wanted to -- and it had decent upgrade paths to grow from: just pop in a better CPU or GPU and you could go from zero to hero.

Today? Would $1K even get you there? Could you even build something with a discrete card in that range?

They arent making B650E boards. So all of their lower end B560 boards dont even have a PCIE 5.0 m.2 Slot. Its really a let down. Other brands at least have a 5.0 m.2 slot.
