Two of Ubisoft's biggest franchises are reportedly getting the VR treatment. According to a paywalled article by The Information, new Assassin's Creed and Splinter Cell games are coming exclusively to the Oculus platform. It isn't clear whether they are being developed for the Rift or Quest.

The Splinter Cell title may be more exciting, being that Assassin's Creed has received yearly releases and poor Sam Fisher hasn't had a mission since 2013's Blacklist. Night vision and sneaking around could be very interesting in VR.

If true, Oculus appears to be doubling down on its exclusive content priorities. Since the launch of the Oculus Rift in 2016 Oculus has published games from third-party developers like Insomniac Games and Twisted Pixel under its Oculus Studios label. While a deal with Ubisoft for these VR games would be in-line with its previous movements, Oculus has never outright bought a VR studio.

I don't see this being a big financial success to take a AAA title and make it oculos only.

I mean their might be tens of thousand of users with Oculus rift's ready to go. But compared to the millions of users with decent gaming PC's that enjoy asassins creed? Seems like a big market to leave behind.

Heck... it's not even for a cell phone. (couldn't resist.)
