From floods to power outages they keep coming. Despite the onslaught of mining catastrophes and the invasion of mobile phones they still keep coming. Even as gaming consoles have evolved to nearly being PCs themselves they still are able to proliferate. Talking about PCs folks. Whether desktops, laptops/notebooks, or even tablets, they are still here and sales are once again growing.

TechPowerUp has reported that IDC, International Data Corporation, has stated seeing over 16 percent sales growth in Q2 2019. There is, of course, a few contributing factors to this. AMD has shown up in a big way with many new GPU and CPU releases. They are keeping both Intel and Nvidia on their toes. Barely a week goes by without us seeing one company announcing a new release in order to challenge their rival. We are also seeing most items kept in stock at various retailers. Dram and SSDs have had some price decreases in the last year as well. Still not the record lows we saw a few years back but still an improvement. Gaming notebooks have also seen significant improvements thanks to improvements in both performance, power, and heat dissipation.

Overall 2019 has shaped up to be a good year to either buy or build a PC. Have you done any major upgrades in the last year? Planning on a new build or maybe saving for a notebook? Let us know how 2019 has been for your PC hobby or gaming adventures.

Hmm... seems with all the "gaming" marketed stuff, the price goes up on peripherals and such.

16% sales growth could very well be a declining market volume with increasing margin.

Too true. I believe it's likely a combination of both those details combined with all players in the field releasing new gens of just about everything. We're also a few years post last gen console releases, except for the switch, which causes some people to focus more what they can do with a pc versus something 3-4 years old.
