The Resident Evil 4 remake arrived today on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, and while some gamers may be close to beating the remake of the survival horror classic already, Capcom has confirmed that more content is just around the corner. The Mercenaries challenge mode will added to Resident Evil 4 as part of a free post-launch DLC that is set for release on April 7, 2023, according to a press release that Capcom shared today, and while the publisher couldn't confirm how closely the new version of the arcade mini-game might match the original, it did note that Resident Evil 4's VR Mode is also in development and is scheduled for release at a later date, also as free DLC. Complementing the news is Resident Evil 4's impressive launch on Steam, having set a new franchise record with 140,240 peak concurrent players. (Resident Evil Village managed an all-time player peak of 106,631, while the Resident Evil 2 remake managed an all-time player peak of 74,227.)
