Samsung Electronics has announced the development of its 16-gigabit (Gb) DDR5 DRAM built using the industry’s first 12-nanometer (nm)-class process technology, as well as the completion of product evaluation for compatibility with AMD.

Hmm, might this mean it won't run quite as hot anymore?

I don't really feel like upgrading my water loop with ramsinks when I get around to upgrading to something with DDR5, unless I absolutely have to.

I have to admit, I don't know what process size current RAM is manufactured at for comparison, but it is probably moot anyway, as process node sizes are just marketing numbers these days, you can't draw any conclusions from them.

Reduced DDR5 power/heat figures will certainly be welcome though.
