SilverStone Strider Platinum 1200W (ST1200-PTS) Power Supply Review

Today on our test bench is the SilverStone Strider Platinum 1200W (ST1200-PTS) Power Supply. This power supply packs 1200W of power into a smaller than average form factor. Read on to see if SilverStone succeeds in its quest.

My last power supply was a 1200W Silverstone Strider Gold I bought in 2010 2011 some time. It worked well, but when it came time to replace it after my desktop burst into flames, I went with a Seasonic Prime 1200W Platinum model instead. I'm very happy with it.

(Long story short, don't use 12v EPS extension cables of unknown provenance)

Nope. Didn't claim it did. Just putting it out there as the reason why I had to replace my Silverstone PSU. Otherwise I would likely still be using it.

Amazing how much literal power they can get into something so small these days. Now that SLI is dead, and Raid is almost useless, smaller builds for enthusiasts who may be using power hungry cards and CPU's have new options to consider.
