Sony has announced that the PlayStation 5 has now surpassed 40 million in sales, marking another significant milestone for the AMD-powered console that originally launched in November 2020. Jim Ryan (President & CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment), who shared the news today, has thanked PlayStation fans for their unwavering support, noting that without them, these sales figures would have remained an "impossible task." Ryan revealed that PlayStation 5 passed 30 million units sold in December 2022 during Sony's CES 2023 press conference.
