Sony has released a new system software update for its PlayStation 5 console and wireless DualSense controller. Version 21.01-03.20.00 improves PS5 system performance and the stability of the DualSense controller, fixes two issues related to the screen reader and the improper listing of hidden titles, and improves the game-copying process from USB to console storage. According to some users, Sony’s new system software update also addresses a DualSense battery indicator bug that resulted in battery life being reported incorrectly.

"improved performance and stability" is Sony code speak for "we fixed some sh!t we would rather not discuss in public". Like the last 20 PS4 updates.

Guess the only upside to the console shortage will be that most kinks will be ironed out b4 most of us can buy one.

I just hope they wont do another pro version in 2 years orso, that would realy be a kick in the nuts if you had to wait already over a year to get the og.

I have a feeling a Pro version is almost inevitable - both Sony and MS did pretty well by having a mid-generation refresh; it allows them to respin the main hardware and take advantage of more recent processes, moving more hardware sales for those looking to upgrade without invalidating the previous purchasers and adopters of the new Slim editions. And the architectures are such that it's not ~terrible~ (relatively speaking) for the developers to support.

Although you could almost argue MS did it out the gate this time, with the X and S being so far apart spec-wise. If they bump the current X up even further with a Pro edition, there is going to be a pretty wide delta between the new Pro and the old S.

On the Sony side: Probably will launch along side (+/- 6 mon) the also-inevitable Slim edition, which is already in the works. Would not be surprised at all to see these come out on 5nm nodes - and the timing seems to line up, since AMD is planning on jumping to 5nm by the end of next year.
