It's been 20 years since New Line Cinema released Peter Jackson's critically acclaimed The Lord of the Rings film trilogy, but new movies are finally on the way. Speaking during yesterday's earnings call, Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav confirmed that New Line Cinema and Warner Bros. Pictures have agreed to a new multi-year agreement with Embracer Group AB's Middle-Earth Enterprises for new movies based on The Lord of the Rings, following up on more recent features that include Amazon's streaming series (The Rings of Power) and Jackson's Hobbit trilogy. There doesn't seem to be any clues as to what the new films might be about yet, but J.R.R. Tolkien fans can also look forward to The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim, a new anime that is scheduled for release next year.
