  1. Microsoft Rolls Out Start Menu Ads for Windows 11 Users

Good thing I'm still on Windows 10
  2. Fallout 4’s Next-Gen Update Has Arrived for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC

I was like hoping for some graphical improvements like better textures, or better shadows and lighting, or ray tracing, etc... oh well. "Next Gen" just seems to be about console support, and resolution, dynamic framerate and aspect ratio support.
  3. NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 Is Only Worth $700, according to Micro Center

Unfortuntely, the issue is bigger and more complex than just 'the user is plugging it in wrong'. While that can contribute, it is not inherently the main issue with the new cable and connector, it's a design choice ultimately that has caused these issues. It needs to go back to the drawing board.
  4. Lexar NM790 with Heatsink 2TB PCIe Gen4 M.2 NVMe SSD Review

Introduction Lexar is well known for its memory components, including memory cards, USB flash drives, portable drives, card readers, RAM, and SSDs. We’ve evaluated two Lexar SSDs, the Lexar Professional NM800 Pro SSD is geared for professionals, and professional applications and we’ve also...
  5. NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 Is Only Worth $700, according to Micro Center

I don't want to put words into their mouths, so take what I'm about to say with a grain of salt - Allegedly, I believe NVIDIA thought they could control the production and supply and quality of components, and in a perfect world, they'd be right, if the components are of sufficient quality, then...
  6. NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 Is Only Worth $700, according to Micro Center

R.E. the 12VHPWR melting issue, it is quite clearly a problem with the inherent design of the cable and plug, pushing that much power, with narrow margin of error and tolerances, with wires that are smaller and closer together, it's a design issue, and PCIe SIG should have never qualified the...
  7. AMD GPUs Still Selling Better than NVIDIA at Mindfactory, with Radeon RX 7800 XT on Top

Why is so much weight and importance put on a single German retailer for sales numbers? Are they really that big? Obviously only in Germany no?
  8. Update Your NVMe Firmware

Beyond security updates, bug fixes, wear leveling optimization, and controller or protocol optimizations, firmware updates can also just flat-out improve performance in some areas. For example, I've had this Teamgroup 4TB MP34 SSD on my primary system, as my primary drive for about 9 months...
  9. NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Celebrates Its 7th Anniversary

I wish I kept at least one 1080 Ti and special cards like it down the line, instead of giving them all back to Kyle. I shoulda kept at least one, regret that, I'd love to re-test one, and other GPUs that were special or iconic, in 2024.
  10. Horizon Forbidden West Complete Edition 1.2 Patch Addresses Stuttering, Visual Corruption on AMD Radeon RX 6000 Series GPUs

Good deal Still finishing Zero Dawn lawl I'll get to the game in a month or so, will be even more polished then. I wish it had Ray Tracing though, just a personal preference.
  11. Snapdragon X Elite Windows Laptops to Deliver More Performance than Apple M3 MacBook Air, Sources Say

Good idea, I have downloaded our copy of UL Procyon, and they have indeed updated it with the two latest AI benchmark tools now, which weren't there before. I checked it out, it appears that one of the benchmarks is for GPU and the other lets you switch and test between GPU and CPU. It looks...
  12. Star Trek: Discovery Season 5 Premiere Is Free to Watch on YouTube US

I mean, I can say a lot about Disco, but I'm still going to watch Season 5 anyway, I've seen each season, so why not I guess. I'm trying to decide if I should watch it each week, or just wait till the end, then binge it.
  13. PCIe 7.0 Specification on Track for Full Release in 2025

History has always confirmed that the mantra of "we'll never need xxx that fast or that much" has always been proven false over time for computer hardware. Eventually, I'm sure there will be advantages, and it will become the minimum, not the average or maximum desired performance. It is...
  14. MSI SPATIUM M580 FROZR 2TB PCIe Gen5 M.2 NVMe SSD Review

In the review, I stated: "It’s faster than the MSI SPATIUM M570 PRO FROZR by 14% on read performance and is about even on write performance." Therefore, it's faster in read performance, and the write performance is about even. In Horizon Forbidden West I am timing the click of the Play button...
