  1. ASUS Mentions AMD X590 Chipset in Confidential Documents

X570 with quad channel memory = X590 would probably suffice for most HEDT users...
  2. 3700X memory controller

Just to reiterate on how important these boards are to actual memory overclocks... Checked that the Strix E B450 uses a daisy chain topology (best with 2 sticks) while the GB X470 uses T Topology (best with 4 sticks). 4x16GB = B450 E would only do 2933 Max 2x8GB = GB X470 would only do 2933...
  3. 3700X memory controller

Just FYI -- PBO is apparently present in the 2501 BIOS. It's just that the multiple options was separated from one screen now into two. Haven't tried it yet though.
  4. 3700X memory controller

I had problems getting it to run on the first BIOS that claimed it was 3rd gen ready. 2401 was nice but I lost mouse control in the BIOS. Updated last night to the version starting with 25xx and it fixed the mouse issues in the BIOS - overall it seems ok. It runs fine with DOCP on 4 sticks of...
  5. 3700X memory controller

I think the board still has a big part to play in running memory speed. My 2700X that would run 4 sticks of 16GB 3200 on a CH7 would only do 2933 on a B450 E Strix. These are with the same memory sticks.
  6. Destiny 2 AGESA Microcode Fix Pulled for Causing System Instability

Will likely be fixed by september, which, by then another CPU that is launching may be of interest to you hehehe
  7. AMD Ryzen 9 3900X CPU Review

It's surprising that I can 'feel' a tangible difference just sitting on the desktop with the 3700X over the 4770K in terms of responsiveness. Maybe the NVME drive helps, but a little frame stutter when loading new areas in Division 2 is also gone. That's all I can say after less than 2 hours on...
  8. AMD Ryzen 9 3900X CPU Review

I ended up with a 3700X. I missed out on stock of the 3800X, but that would have been nice. The 3900X was a game time decision and my wallet took over :| That, and I stuck with my existing X470 Crosshair. The 2700X moves to a new B450 I picked up. STILL, based on a quick check, this thing is a...
  9. AMD Ryzen 9 3900X CPU Review

Seriously interested in either a 3900X for the allure of more coars vs a 3800X for more game boost at 105W for pure gaming. Thanks for this review. Great as always!
  10. Picking an X570

Any boards on your test bench for tomorrow, @Dan_D ? :D Seems the X570 Master is now on my radar.
  11. News: Sneak Peak at MSI X570 MEG ACE

So far only the TOTL Gigabyte seems to have omitted the motherboard fan. The rest I've seen do have them. I was looking at the techpowerup website on how the 1080 and 2080ti scaled with PCIE lanes. It seems that the 1080 saw close to 0% reduction moving from a PCIE 3.0 x16 to x8. The 2080Ti...
  12. MSI X470 GAMING Pro Motherboard Review

Thanks for the review. This was on my shortlist of boards, but I found a relatively new X470 Ultra Gaming for cheap and the price was too good to pass up.
  13. Windows 10 May 2019 Update Boosts Ryzen Performance By as Much as 15%

There was a quick benchmark done by Hardware Unboxed showing close to 0 performance gains in gaming. Not sure which real-life use cases see gains with Ryzen aside from synthetics. There are some reddit and youtube posts saying otherwise though with games like PUBG
  14. AMD’s B550 and A520 Motherboards Will Only Support PCIe 3.0

While I understand this is entirely a cost-related decision, keeping the lower tiered chipsets on PCIE 3.0 will, at this point in time limit the development for PCIE 4.0 devices. Who will want to take the time to create non-halo (read: affordable and mainstream) products for just X570 owners...
  15. Picking an X570

In terms of aesthetically pleasing... Gigabyte's X570 lineup looks ugly to me given how they designed the M.2 heatsinks, the PCH heatsink and the fan. The Aorus Ultra/Master look 'decent'. In comparison, almost all the Asus boards look well integrated (whether you like the gamery design or...
