X570 with quad channel memory = X590 would probably suffice for most HEDT users...

Just to reiterate on how important these boards are to actual memory overclocks... Checked that the Strix E B450 uses a daisy chain topology (best with 2 sticks) while the GB X470 uses T Topology (best with 4 sticks). 4x16GB = B450 E would only do 2933 Max 2x8GB = GB X470 would only do 2933...

Just FYI -- PBO is apparently present in the 2501 BIOS. It's just that the multiple options was separated from one screen now into two. Haven't tried it yet though.

I think the board still has a big part to play in running memory speed. My 2700X that would run 4 sticks of 16GB 3200 on a CH7 would only do 2933 on a B450 E Strix. These are with the same memory sticks.

Will likely be fixed by september, which, by then another CPU that is launching may be of interest to you hehehe

It's surprising that I can 'feel' a tangible difference just sitting on the desktop with the 3700X over the 4770K in terms of responsiveness. Maybe the NVME drive helps, but a little frame stutter when loading new areas in Division 2 is also gone. That's all I can say after less than 2 hours on...

Thanks for the review. This was on my shortlist of boards, but I found a relatively new X470 Ultra Gaming for cheap and the price was too good to pass up.

There was a quick benchmark done by Hardware Unboxed showing close to 0 performance gains in gaming. Not sure which real-life use cases see gains with Ryzen aside from synthetics. There are some reddit and youtube posts saying otherwise though with games like PUBG

While I understand this is entirely a cost-related decision, keeping the lower tiered chipsets on PCIE 3.0 will, at this point in time limit the development for PCIE 4.0 devices. Who will want to take the time to create non-halo (read: affordable and mainstream) products for just X570 owners...
