I can't say I use my Series X much anymore (gifted it to my youngest and he enjoys a few games on it), but if the next Xbox is basically a Windows PC with a 'game mode' (ala SteamOS), I'd be on board.
I already have MS new console name picked out: Xbox PC. It can act as a 'recommended spec'...
I've been using it on my ROG Ally and have been having a great time with it - it's actually made my ROG Ally my main PC lately (my Ally is a lot quieter than my desktop). I was dual booting Bazzite and Windows at one point, but (iirc) a Windows update borked my dual boot and instead of finding...
I'd be up for this - really like how my ROG Ally complements PC gaming for me (cloud saving makes it easy to switch from device to device). Combine that with the rock solid stability of a Playstation console - that would make for a great time.
I think MS would be at a bit of an advantage...
Maybe to create demand for a new round of micro consoles? (I know I'd grab a Dreamcast Mini).
Otherwise - yeah, not seeing the benefit of pulling them from the digital storefronts. I've appreciated how Sega sold their library on multiple platforms, so hopefully this is just a temporary thing...
Yeah, that's what I thought the S conversion would be like when MS first announced it (and it made sense). Going by what rumour sites leak out, it was the lower RAM of the S that's been the biggest hurdle for ports.
I'm thinking it's a combination of lower playerbase and the Xbox Series S requirement.
Sure, you could argue why port a title to Xbox from the PS because the playerbase is small, but there is still a playerbase, and I bet porting a PS5 to Xbox Series X is fairly trivial due to their hardware...
I wonder if they're toning down whatever content it was that was firing up the Japanese community. I'm not sure they can afford another underperforming release.
I wouldn't be surprised if they go that route, they've already had a parallel universe 'Evil Dr Strange', so it wouldn't be that far fetched (albeit kinda boring). Personally, I hope they don't go this route and they make Doom his own unique separate character.
I don't mind the casting as RDJ...
