Was putting together a machine today and figured I'd start a thread where we can post pictures of hardware used for Distributed Computing. Recent builds, older builds, any PC hardware or hardware related to distributed computing is welcome.

Specs on this machine-

9950x with Noctua NH-D15 HSF
32GB DDR5-6000
(2) 4070 Super GPU's
1000w Corsair RMe power supply
Old SATA solid state drive :ROFLMAO:
E02 DIY stackable case
(2) 200mm Thermaltake fans and a 120mm Arctic Fan

So, some of you have seen my basement before.

This is one of my Folding rigs. Also used for GPU BOINC projects.

I9-10900X CPU, with Arctic AIO water cooler. (Complete with zip ties!)
Asus WS X299 sage Motherboard
64 GB Ram
6x 2080ti’s (1xMSI and 5xEVGA)
2x 1200W PSU’s
Linux Mint 22.1 OS

I typically run it with GPU’s PL at 200W (80%)

I built it during the mining craze but it was never used for mining, only DC.

I regret buying so many of that 'case' you have there @Pokey . Very bulky, and quite heavy and unbalanced when it comes time to rearrange things, when stacked 2 high.

I think your motherboard provides additional PCIe lanes? CPU has, what, 48 lanes? Impressive setup.

Yep. The Work Station MB has the slots, and the cpu has the lanes. 5 of the gpu's are x8 and 1 is x16. If I had it to do over again knowing what I do now, I would have gone for more/smaller rigs with fewer cards each . Having all your eggs in one basket so to speak makes for less flexibility. But in my defense, I was a dedicated Folder at the time. :D
I do like @Icecold rig above.

That's a pretty sweet setup @Pokey . I have a couple setups that are somewhat similar, but with less GPU's (mine are V100's with super bulky heatsinks so I only have 4 cards on mine). 2080ti's still perform pretty well, I still have 2 of them in use. I actually have a third setup I was trying to get going that's very similar to your's (mine is an i9-9960x, AIO water cooler complete with zip ties) but I was having some issues with it I still need to troubleshoot. Probably issues with my risers but I was having issues getting all my GPU's to detect. Mine is an EVGA X299 Dark motherboard

My setup is not nearly as clean as @Pokey ’s but this is my current 5 GPU machine running off an i9-9960x in an evga x299 dark motherboard that I mentioned before I was trying to get running. Seems to work great but I need to do some cable management lol

Hmm, three cores per GPU plus a spare core for good measure — seems to be a perfect combo for Einstein O4AS. (A dual-GPU + 4c/8t-CPU box of mine somewhat struggled with that one.)

It does decent on Einstein. My main Einstein machine is an Intel Xeon ice lake 8368 QWAT ES (38 cores) with 4 v100’s in a similar setup with a mining rack and risers which does really well. I’ve also got another similar one that I threw together with a dual broadwell machine and 3 v100’s but I’ve been telling myself for years I’d redo it with a faster/more efficient single cpu setup. It does decent enough though so it’s hard for me to find motivation to improve it lol
