  1. Piracy Causes a 20% Drop in Game Revenue, Denuvo DRM Research Finds

If I'm not convinced a game is good and there is no demo, I just ignore it. I wouldn't even bother to set sail.
  2. 50 TB HDDs Are Coming in 2026–2027, IEEE Says

Well I've been only using HDDs as cold storage since 2011, but so far haven't had any failures outside of the drives that already failed while filling. Still every HDD has a backup copy.
  3. Piracy Causes a 20% Drop in Game Revenue, Denuvo DRM Research Finds

We investigated ourselves and found that our product is really beneficial - Denuvo I'd trust criminals to police themselves rather than trust any "study" by a DRM software maker on piracy.
  4. Internet Archive Suffers from “Catastrophic” Security Breach, Impacting 31 Million Users

Those were my first thoughts as well. The scraping and archiving is done automatically, and you can access the archives without an account, so what is it for?
  5. Upgrade Deal Alert: AMD AM4 Processors at All Time Lows

It seems to be between 5-10% according to gamersnexus At current prices you'd be a fool to go for the 5800X3D, however when I got mine, the 5700X3D was roughly the same price as the 5800X3D, not just in price / performance, but outright on account of it being new. But since February this year...
  6. Alien: Isolation Celebrates 10th Anniversary with Sequel Announcement and Release of Original Video Game Soundtrack

You don't know what you're missing :D In senua when you get to the end of a level you literally have to walk back to the very first room you started in every time. It is utterly ridiculous.
  7. Alien: Isolation Celebrates 10th Anniversary with Sequel Announcement and Release of Original Video Game Soundtrack

I think backtracking is overly vilified in games as a concept, but it is not always a problem. I hated the backtracking in Senua's Sacrifice or in Control, but not in Alien Isolation or System Shock II (which is basically the spiritual predecessor to AI)
  8. Alien: Isolation Celebrates 10th Anniversary with Sequel Announcement and Release of Original Video Game Soundtrack

If I remember correctly it wasn't that the doors magically opened due to story progression but you needed to find the equipment to open certain passages.
  9. Upgrade Deal Alert: AMD AM4 Processors at All Time Lows

The 3D V-cache versions are completely off the market here in the EU. IDK if this is a temporary stock issue or they stopped supplying them in order to push enthusiasts to the newer AM5 platform ?! I seemingly actually purchased my 5800X3D around the lowest price point in February, it was...
  10. Most Gamers Prefer Single-Player Games, New Research Reveals

It seems I am the only one who never had this issue, 220V FTW. At first we were using BNC cables, and I had a few extra 10Mbit ethernet cards that I'd lend out to those who didn't have their own. Portable desks are one thing, we were using every possible surface as a computer desk. Including my...
  11. Ubisoft Is Reportedly in Negotiations With Epic Games Parent Company Tencent For A Buyout Deal

Can't be worse than what Ubisoft is doing with them. Driver - shelved since 2011 Rainbow Six - shelved since 2008 Splinter Cell - shelved since 2013
  12. Starfield Design Director Says Sci-Fi RPG Is Bethesda’s “Best Game Ever Made” as Shattered Space Expansion Drops to Mostly Negative Rating on...

Hey, I liked the Mako physics in Mass Effect. It was consistent and predictable if you knew what you are doing, unlike this glitchy mess.
  13. Most Gamers Prefer Single-Player Games, New Research Reveals

Yeah, I don't even remember sleeping during LAN parties, but I probably did a few hours here and there. We'd start Friday afternoon and go until Sunday midday usually. My first ever LAN party which I hosted BTW took place in my parent's garage, we only had 4 PCs but we still had a blast. Some...
  14. Most Gamers Prefer Single-Player Games, New Research Reveals

Multiplayer to me means LAN parties, but no game even allows to make local servers anymore so even the idea of a LAN party becomes moot. I simply don't like online multiplayer games at all. I find other players distracting and immersion breaking and playing with people I know is a scheduling...
  15. “Disaster”: Star Wars Outlaws Has Only Sold 1 Million Copies Worldwide, It’s Claimed

They could have done it eternally, but this game is far inferior to either Assassin's Creed or FarCry, even compared to FarCry6. It is an anti game, the people who made it don't understand what makes games fun, or didn't care, or worse deliberately ignored what the "chuds" want from games.
  16. Cyberpunk 2077 Has Tarnished CD PROJEKT RED’s Reputation Forever, Joint-CEO Believes

They already did, at least for those who actually played the game later. I personally don't think it was as terrible as it was made out to be even at launch on PC. To me pledging allegiance to ESG is a much bigger blemish on their reputation.
  17. “Disaster”: Star Wars Outlaws Has Only Sold 1 Million Copies Worldwide, It’s Claimed

There was a rumor circulating that skull and bones cost ubisoft 850 million, now IDK how reliable that is, but Concord is confirmed to cost 400 million which is only an online shooter and not a proper game with a campaign. So I'd think outlaws on the lowest end had to cost 150-200 million not...
