  1. Few Can Tell the Difference Between 8K vs. 4K TVs, According to Double-Blind Study by WB

HDR has a bigger impact than resolution. I have some movies that are 4K (70mbit/s) and recently watched one that was around 10mbit/s (1080P) and honestly I didn't really notice anything wrong with the 1080P file. Side by side I bet I could see the difference and if I really tried to look for...
  2. US Broadband Looks Worse Every Day: Japan Now Offering 10 Gbps Internet for $55 a Month

Then why are all the countries with the highest speeds also the smallest? It does matter, the population density is much higher too. It’s about 90/sq mi for the US and 870/sq mile for Japan. There are many places with 1gbps up/down in the US, and I’m pretty sure almost any “populated” area at...
  3. US Broadband Looks Worse Every Day: Japan Now Offering 10 Gbps Internet for $55 a Month

These comparisons are always pretty silly, Japan is TINY compared to the US.
  4. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Developer Apologizes for Ridiculous 94 GB Season 2 Update

The actual install is smaller, they repackaged some stuff to save space. Ironically, that's what made the patch so big.
  5. NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080/3070 Specifications Allegedly Leaked: Up to 20 GB of GDDR6 Memory

The good thing is I went back to 1080P 144Hz from 4K 60Hz, so the 1080 is still doing fine if I tweak some settings. I just can't justify the prices of Nvidia right now, anything below a 2070S is basically a side grade or barely an upgrade while costing $400+. I expect the 3080 to beat the...
  6. NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080/3070 Specifications Allegedly Leaked: Up to 20 GB of GDDR6 Memory

I usually just buy the previous gen second or best from EVGA's B-Stock. That's how i got my 980Ti and GTX 1080 for $350 each, with the 980Ti being "free" since I sold it for around $390 during the crypto nonsense in 2018. 2080's and 2080Ti's are still insanely expensive even on B-Stock though.
  7. VIZIO to Challenge LG Display in the OLED Market with its First-Ever 55" and 65" 4K OLED TVs

Going to depend a lot on price, if it's higher end like $1.5k+, then I would assume so. I'm not sure who else is producing OLED panels right now.
  8. NVIDIA’s 7 Nm Ampere GPUs Will “Boost Performance by 50% and Halve Power Consumption”

Wasn’t Maxwell a huge leap over Kepler? I’m pretty sure we saw 50%+ gains when comparing 980 to 780 and 980 Ti to 780Ti.
  9. AMD Intends to Deliver Higher-than-Average IPC Gains with Each New Generation of Zen

Yes, it will be AM4. Zen 4 or whatever they want to call it will be a new socket, most likely with DDR5 in 2021.
  10. AMD Intends to Deliver Higher-than-Average IPC Gains with Each New Generation of Zen

I will be waiting at least a few weeks before buying a Ryzen 4xxx, mainly because I don't have a ton of faith in Asus with their BIOS updates for older motherboards (X470 in my case). Worst case I'll get a GPU upgrade first.
  11. AMD’s High-End (Navi 21) Radeon RX GPU Rumored to Be Twice as Powerful as Current Flagships

Right in time for Nvidias RTX 3080 (Ti?) to come in and beat it while using 10-20% less power :sneaky:
  12. Rumor: Apple Launching High-End Gaming PC Next Year to Address Esports Market

I don't really see this happening, gaming is still mostly Windows based and I don't see a ton of gamers being interested in an Apple machine.
  13. AMD’s Zen 3-Based Ryzen 4000 CPUs Will Reportedly Offer an Average IPC Gain of 17%

I’ve been patiently sitting out Ryzen 3xxx waiting for this one, hopefully I can make it another 6 months. Nvidia will hopefully release their 7nm parts around then too so I can get a meaningful upgrade from my GTX 1080.
  14. Samsung TVs Are the First in the Industry to Get 8K HDMI 2.1 Video Certification

We are barely getting any 4K content, and these clowns are already jumping to 8K instead of improving black levels and improving the color space. Looks like micro led is still quite a few years away.
  15. Ryzen “AF”: AMD Releasing Ryzen 5 1600 CPUs Manufactured under 12 Nm “Zen+” Process

These are probably 2600’s that couldn’t make the cut to be sold as 2600’s, so they just gave them a new name.
  16. AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT Gets Substantial Performance Bump on PCIe 4.0 vs. 3.0

I just saw that too, wow. I might be wrong here, but is the 5500XT limited to PCIE 3/4 at x8? Still, for a mid/low end card it's a bit crazy for there to be such a huge difference in memory bandwidth.
  17. AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT Gets Substantial Performance Bump on PCIe 4.0 vs. 3.0

There's gotta be some kind of bug here, that seems insane. The 8GB version is basically within error margins.
  18. 2021 Cadillac Escalade to Sport Massive 38-Inch Curved OLED Display

It’s an Escalade, who actually buys these with the intention of keeping them for a long time?
  19. Windows 7 EOL Looming

I’m the odd one that actually liked 8.1, but that was after they mostly fixed it and I never saw that tile based garbage. There were quite a few QoL improvements, and while 10 has issues with telemetry and whatnot, it’s pretty nice to use. 7 was great when it came out though, definite...
