  1. Smartglasses Will Be the Primary Computing Platform by 2030, Replacing Smartphones, Mark Zuckerberg Predicts

I have gotten used to headphones on the PC due to the years of use. I tend to prefer most games with headphones. At least FPS titles. Especially competitive ones, as it allows me to localize sounds better. (Though I haven't exactly played lots of competitive FPS titles in the last decade...
  2. Microsoft Wants to Know Why Some Developers Aren’t Interested in Xbox

Doesn't it have like 10 gigs of RAM though? I mean, I know this is split between the GPU and main system, but if it is designed intelligently that shouldn't matter much, as on a PC most games have to have the assets both in system RAM and in GPU RAM in case they need to be dropped and quickly...
  3. Microsoft Wants to Know Why Some Developers Aren’t Interested in Xbox

I don't work in game development, so I don't know how hard it is or isn't, but just based on the fact that this type of developer reluctance to port is happening, I'm assuming that this isn't the case. Who knows though. Maybe they just like being whiny.
  4. NVIDIA App Beta Adds G-SYNC Controls, RTX HDR Multi-Monitor Support, and More

My has always been that you only enable/install what you need to avoid bloat and security issues. Any unnecessary hardware can result in stability problems. Any unnecessary software could result in bloat, stability problems or security holes. You always want to minimize what you have...
  5. Microsoft Wants to Know Why Some Developers Aren’t Interested in Xbox

Huh. I always pictured it would just be a matter of hard coding different quality level settings to make it playable, and otherwise pretty much the same. You know, similar to pulling out a RX 6800, installing an RX 6400 and changing the settings to low, on a PC :p I mean, the architecture is...
  6. Microsoft Wants to Know Why Some Developers Aren’t Interested in Xbox

They do? I can't think of a single one I have been interested in playing. I guess I'm no longer the mainstream gamer though. I feel like back in 1999-2003 or so I may have been, but I guess that was a long time ago now. :/
  7. Steven Spielberg Is a PC Gamer Who Loves Call of Duty, Eldest Son Reveals: “I Only Do Keyboard and Mouse”

Good for him? Call of Duty isn't the most interesting title though. It's one of the "Lowest Common Denominator" multiplayer FPS titles, along with the Battlefield series.
  8. Noctua Launches Its Next-Gen NF-A14x25 G2 Square-Frame 140mm Flagship Fans

Will be interesting to see how they perform in testing. Also, do Noctua PWM fans still behave poorly (inaccurate speeds) when you daisy chain several of them off of one PWM source signal? I used to absolutely love Noctua fans, but that problem killed them for me back in 2019.
  9. ASRock Unveils Seven Epic X870E/X870 Series Motherboards Ready for AMD Ryzen 9000 Series “Zen 5” Processors

I wonder what the chances are even once X870/X870E board on the market has a secondary 8x port that can be used without degrading the primary port. I can dream, right?
  10. NVIDIA App Beta Adds G-SYNC Controls, RTX HDR Multi-Monitor Support, and More

I still don't want this, but I guess it is going to be forced on me at some point :/
  11. New Windows 11 Update Breaks Mouse, Keyboard, Wi-Fi, and Other Important Functionality, Users Say

Do they not test at all before pushing these things out anymore?
  12. Cyberpunk 2077 Has Tarnished CD PROJEKT RED’s Reputation Forever, Joint-CEO Believes

Cyberpunk certainly had a rough launch, but in the end it was a really good game. I don't think less of CDPR as a result. I had more fun with Cyberpunk than I did with pretty much any other title of the last 5 years or so.
  13. Intel PresentMon Can Now Display Gaming Performance Data Instantly, Without Any Lag

Is this a big deal? I usually view RivaTuner charts on a side screen while gaming, and have never noticed any significant latency.
  14. Smartglasses Will Be the Primary Computing Platform by 2030, Replacing Smartphones, Mark Zuckerberg Predicts

I wouldn't even know where to go to use "the metaverse" if I wanted to :p
  15. Smartglasses Will Be the Primary Computing Platform by 2030, Replacing Smartphones, Mark Zuckerberg Predicts

Pass. I have a pretty strong optical prescription, and even I don't like wearing things on my face. (which is why I always wear contacts) And I'm apparently not alone. Not wanting to wear glasses seems to be the primary reason 3D TV remains a fad to this day.
  16. Microsoft Wants to Know Why Some Developers Aren’t Interested in Xbox

I suppose you are correct. Why spend the money to develop a game for a platform if the player base is smaller? Seeing that Xbox is essentially just a streamlined and embedded windows machine at this point, why not just create xbox interface "wrappers" with pre-set config files and controller...
  17. A $700 PC Can’t Compete with the PS5 Pro, Battlefield’s Vince Zampella Says: “It’s an Amazing Thing”

Right forgot about fighting games. They fall kind of into that same category as platformers/side scrollers. I haven't played a modern one though. Older simpler fighting games you could make work with keyboard controls, but as they get more complex, I bet a controller gets more helpful. I...
  18. A $700 PC Can’t Compete with the PS5 Pro, Battlefield’s Vince Zampella Says: “It’s an Amazing Thing”

Well, you need some form of controls. If you are not buying a controller (which I am with you, I have never used a controller on a PC) you are still going to need a mouse and keyboard. I'm with you. I remember when some friend brought GoldenEye and some form of Nintendo (Game Cube? N64...
