  1. Logitech G Teams with Airdrop Gaming for Audio Radar 7.1 Surround Vision Technology That Allows Gamers to “See the Sound”

And this right here is why I don't play multiplayer games anymore. I very much should have a say in whether or not the people I am playing against in multiplayer games get to use cheating tools.
  2. Logitech G Teams with Airdrop Gaming for Audio Radar 7.1 Surround Vision Technology That Allows Gamers to “See the Sound”

I'm all for assistive technologies that help those with disabilities, but not at the expense of ruining all multiplayer games. That sacrifice is just too high. (...and I don't even play multiplayer games anymore, in large part because of streamers and hackers) This very much is in the same...
  3. Logitech G Teams with Airdrop Gaming for Audio Radar 7.1 Surround Vision Technology That Allows Gamers to “See the Sound”

I'm choosing because I don't want to ruin the game with unrealistic visual queues. If there were an option to limit such visual queues to games where others are also using those visual queues I wouldn't have a problem with them, but having these game ruining visual cues make their way into...
  4. Logitech G Teams with Airdrop Gaming for Audio Radar 7.1 Surround Vision Technology That Allows Gamers to “See the Sound”

Visual queues are more precise location-wise than audio queues, so if you have them they are an unrealistic and unfair advantage. I feel for people with hearing difficulties, I really do, but this kind of "assistive technology" provides an unrealistic and unfair advantage to people using it and...
  5. Logitech G Teams with Airdrop Gaming for Audio Radar 7.1 Surround Vision Technology That Allows Gamers to “See the Sound”

Yeah., but leaving it up to the choice of the user, there is no way to police it. I understand that it is designed for the hard of hearing, but should the hard of hearing really have an unfair advantage in game?
  6. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle Reveals PC System Requirements, Including Ray Tracing That Can’t Be Disabled and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 for H...

Really? How many people are actually still playing on pre- RTX 2000 series GPU's? Pre-RX7000 series AMD GPU's might also be a problem, but AMD's market share hhas absolutely fallen off a cliff in th elast few generations, probably largely just because of the lack of RT performance. If you go...
  7. GSC Explains Why It Couldn’t Delay S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 Any Longer to Fix Bugs: “You’re So Tired That You Would Just Die”

Well, I played through maybe 2.5 hours in total, repeating the prologue a couple of times, in an attempt to optimize settings to make it playable. In the end I decided I needed to upgrade my desktop first before playing this title, so I requested a Steam refund. In that time - however - I...
  8. Intel Is Not Backing Down in the Discreet GPU Sector and Its Xe3-Based Celestial Series Will Reportedly Compete at the Ultra-Enthusiast Segment

Maybe I misunderstood their press release about focusing on mobile graphics going forward, but this is excellent news. I look forward to seeing what they can produce in the high end.
  9. Warcraft I and II Will Be Delisted Next Week, GOG Says as It Announces a New Feature for Recently Launched Games Preservation Program

it's admirable of the GoG folks to commit to maintaining delisted titles, but that sounds like an "all cost, no revenue" type of proposition, and last I checked GoG was already not doing that amazing as it is...
  10. AMD Will Be Hosting a Press Conference at CES 2025 to Discuss How It Is Expanding Its Leadership Across PCs and Gaming

Ah, yes. Expanding leadership in gaming by dropping out of high end GPU's. That one might just require some explanation.
  11. Applied Materials Announces Breakthrough “MAX OLED” Manufacturing Solution, Enabling up to 3x Brighter Displays and 2.5x Higher Resolution

My 42" LG C3 can already sear my eyeballs. I don't think I need anything brighter. I would welcome greater assurances of no image retention though, and I imagine if these screens can be run at that level of brightness, they must be more resistant to image retention at lower settings.
  12. Logitech G Teams with Airdrop Gaming for Audio Radar 7.1 Surround Vision Technology That Allows Gamers to “See the Sound”

This right here is why I no longer play multiplayer games. 20 years ago we would call this hacking, and you would get banned.
  13. GameSir Launches X3 Pro Mobile Gaming Controller with Hall Effect Sticks, Micro-Switch Triggers, and Integrated Cooling Fan

As I read the headline I realized I had no idea what "hall effect sticks" were, so I clicked to read more. I still haven't figured out what "hall effect sticks" are, because I went on a tangent trying to figure out why a controller would need a cooling plate. OH. It's for mobile gaming...
  14. “Heartbroken”: Ubisoft Shuts Down XDefiant and Two of Its Studios

There have been a few of these lately. Maybe we are finally seeing the end of the "free to play", "micro-transaction" bullshit era.
  15. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle Reveals PC System Requirements, Including Ray Tracing That Can’t Be Disabled and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 for H...

All of that said, I am not usually a fan of games based on non-game franchises, but I could see myself making an exception to try this one. Maybe down the road, steeply discounted during a Steam sale.
  16. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle Reveals PC System Requirements, Including Ray Tracing That Can’t Be Disabled and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 for H...

Of course it is always on and can't be disabled. If developers have to spend time during raster "tricks" like shadow mapping, it takes them like 3-4 times more work to design a scene than with RT. I'm surprised every last dev doesn't do this yet. I guess they have to balance it against how...
  17. GSC Explains Why It Couldn’t Delay S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 Any Longer to Fix Bugs: “You’re So Tired That You Would Just Die”

So, to be fair I only played through the prologue to test performance, but the prologue is quite playable IMHO. I think some of these "unplayable" comments are overblown. The game is in a WAY better state than Cyberpunk was at launch in 2020. (but that maybe doesn't say much)
  18. Microsoft Calls TPM 2.0 a “Non-Negotiable” Standard for Windows, Closing the Door on Windows 11 Supporting Older Hardware

Maybe it is the concept of avoiding ever using Windows at all that is going to become non-negotiable?
  19. Intel Arc B580 “Battlemage” GPU Pricing and Specifications Have Surfaced

The amusing part is that the only performance comparisons they give us are the GTX 1060, and GTX 1660 Super. Am I really supposed to be impressed by a brand new GPU in late 2024 being compared to mid to low level Nvidia GPU's from 5-10 years ago? Though at $249, maybe that is all we can...
  20. Walmart Completes Acquisition of VIZIO and TV Maker’s SmartCast Operating System

Pretty much guarantees I will never buy one, lol. I remember hearing about this back in February. Apparently the motivation is not to get the Vizio TV/electronics business but rather to get the streaming service. Walmart wants to be a notable player in the streaming world before the industry...
