  1. AMD Confirms Price Drop for Radeon RX 5700 Series

Can hardly wait for comparison reviews of the 5700AE and 5800 to the new RTX Super lineup. One of them will likely end up in my system.
  2. EA Says It Deserves Better: “We’re Not Just a Bunch of Bad Guys”

The nail in EA's coffin, for me, was how they treated Origin Systems. Ultima IX had so much promise of being the greatest open-world fantasy RP/adventure game in history, but EA forced Garriott and team to rush it. What we got was a content cut, pseudo-open world, unstable bug-ridden mess...
  3. NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER and 2060 SUPER Video Card Review

Thank you for the outstanding review! My personal thoughts: I was not a fan of the overall performance or the pricing of the original RTX series vs the outgoing 10xx series. Having zero interest in raytracing right now due to infancy of adoption and lack of hardware performance for these price...
  4. EA Says It Deserves Better: “We’re Not Just a Bunch of Bad Guys”

He's making statements about how EA used to be: passionate and motivated about making the best games in the industry. The problem is, EA strayed from that over two decades ago and has become a beast that devours the competition under the guise of a "cohesive merger", spits out the bones, and...
  5. NBA 2K19 Fans Are Upset Because Their $60 Game Has Unskippable Ads

This is ridiculous. Interruptive commercials in games. Sheesh. Now, I don't mind seeing some passive ads (like the Sprite vending machines in Splinter Cell Chaos Theory) as long as they aren't obstructive/interruptive to gameplay, but there's no way I would open my wallet and pay for a game...
  6. Quake II RTX Performance Review

Great review, thank you! This really drives home the point of how much of a burden RTX is on very expensive current gen hardware, and hopefully one or two generations in the future will really start to shine with full global illumination raytracing.
  7. Tesla Pickup Truck Will Cost Less than $50,000, “Be Better than F-150”

I would love to see The Fast Lane Truck team to run it through the Ike Gauntlet. ...if it doesn't run out of juice during the trip.
  8. Samsung Announces 292″ 8K Micro LED Display: The Wall Luxury

Over 24ft diagonal...*droooooool*. I am fully willing and able to put one through a battery of real-world testing, and happily report my findings. Samsung, if you're reading this, please register as a user and PM me to get my ship-to info.
  9. Massive Moon Metal Found After Years of Analysis

Probably mostly nickel and/or iron, so I'm not sure it would be worth the expense to get there and then haul it back.
  10. NVIDIA’s “Super” GPUs Leaked: New RTX 2080 Ti, RTX 2070 Ti, and More

...and still won't be powerful enough for proving enthusiast-level ray tracing performance, despite *very* enthusiast-level pricing, amirite? Will these be extra spacey invadey?
  11. 5700XT 50th edition

This might be just the GPU at a price point I've been holding off on to upgrade my 980Ti. Fingers crossed!
  12. AMD Shows Intel Mercy: Security Mitigations Were Turned Off in Benchmarks

I feel the same way about it. Ever since Bulldozer, I've jokingly referred to AMD as "Another Massive Disappointment", which has pushed me towards Intel since...and I was a stout AMD user since my Am386SX-40 replaced an Intel 8088XT 8Mhz. I did have a stint with a Cyrix 6x86, but that was due...
  13. How Much Would You Pay for Premium Firefox Features?

There are numerous browsers to choose from, so I would pay exactly zero.
  14. ASUS X570 Motherboard Prices Leak, and They’re Expensive

I'm a fan of the TUF/Sabertooth line from Asus, and that's not bad at all. $700 for a consumer MoBo is asinine, imo.
  15. What CPUs are in your Machines?

    My gaming system - i7-3770K Kids gaming system - i5-4570 Home office/wife's - i3-2100 Laptop - i5-3210m
  16. Are you an AMD or Intel guy?

I've used Cyrix and AMD since the Am386 days. Until Bulldozer. What a let-down. Steered me to Ivy Bridge, which I've been running since it was freshly released.
  17. LG Begins Sales of World’s First 8K OLED TV

I remember the infancy days of the plasma TV right around the turn of the century... co-worker wanted one badly. Was willing to pay the $13000 for something like a 32" wall-mountable. 7 years ago I bought a 60" LG plasma that was on discontinued clearance for under $900. I'll give it 10 years...
  18. Full Mitigation for Intel’s ZombieLoad Flaw Drops Mac Performance by 40%

That drop literally erases every IPC improvement since Nehalem/Westmere.
  19. Illinois Residents May Have to Pay $1,000 per Year to Own an EV

That's supposed to be what the annual registration and *use* tax is for. But now that the use tax is being exponentially increased, this just pushes environmentally friendly EVs out of the grasp of everyone except the very-well-to-do. It's punishing the lower and middle classes.
  20. Newegg - storage specials ends 5/14 before 5/15 changeover (PST)

Eh, not really from Newegg. The cheapest 480-525GB drives are in the regularly priced $50-58 range, including the BX500.
