  1. NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 to Consume More Power than GeForce RTX 3070 (220 W): Report

This! AMD needs to step up to the plate with some real encoder support and utilities making use of the power they've got. I steered clear of their video cards strictly because of this.
  2. NCSoft Unveils Project M, a Heavy Rain-Like Thriller with Ultra-Realistic Graphics

Last NCSoft title I played was City of Heroes... Man that game used to be good...
  3. NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 to Consume More Power than GeForce RTX 3070 (220 W): Report

Oh.. I know AMD is all too guilty of this as well. Its been a LONG time since nVidia has been forced to do it though. Just stands out more. AMD's video selection still hasn't been able to fully catch up, and nVidia is trying to make sure the nail is firmly planted in their coffin..
  4. NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 to Consume More Power than GeForce RTX 3070 (220 W): Report

They'll release a 4030 that'll be gimped to oblivion. Look at the 1630 they are set to release. 64-bit data bus rumored to be in play. If that does come to fruition, then I wouldn't be surprised to see a 4030 built the same way..
  5. NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 to Consume More Power than GeForce RTX 3070 (220 W): Report

nVidia's Idea of efficiency = Throw MOAR POWAH at it! Sure it'll perform laps around the competition, but the efficiency will blow, and not in a good way!
  6. Starlink

3000+ feet up on top of a mountain has absolutely zero bars of LTE signal. Not even an option for our location (Near Grahamsville). This was our only option (that was worth pursuing). I don't consider HughesNet a viable option.
  7. Starlink

Finally got to our place in the Catskills to hook up our Starlink system. I was shipped the Gen2 version (rectangular dish) and setup was a cakewalk. Considering I couldn't get a totally clear shot to the skyline, I'll take the results I've been given. DL speeds range anywhere from 80 to...
  8. AMD Ryzen 7000 Series Processors to Feature Up to 16 Cores at Launch

Downgrades the lanes used to be PCIe4. a PCIe4x16 card will not look like a PCIe5x8 in a PCIe5 slot. In essence, that doubled bandwidth for those 16 lanes is lost, thus why more lanes would be great! To answer the question though, a 3080Ti put into a PCIe5x4 slot will be in essence a PCIe4x4...
  9. AMD Ryzen 7000 Series Processors to Feature Up to 16 Cores at Launch

You're definitely pointed in the right direction. I, personally like having the cores (my 5900 I just got is AMAZING). Cap the cores at 12 like you suggest and open up the PCIe lanes. Win/Win!
  10. PCIe 5.0 SSDs Will Be Wider and Require Bigger M.2 Slots, Suggests GIGABYTE X670 Motherboard Specifications

Yeah.. Remember the heat that is pumped out by PCI4 drives? PICE5 drives could probably power a steam generator!
  11. Unable to login to forums

For me, the fix was to nuke all my cookies from this place, and start from a clean slate. All good for now. I can login once again and lurk away! Thank you David for all your help!

Hi folks, From both my home and work computers I cannot log into the forums. I am able to login though on my phone (thus why I can post this). Just a heads up for David and staff. - Rob
  13. AM4 Platform “Will Continue for Many Years to Come,” says AMD Chair and CEO Dr. Lisa Su

Not sure if that'd be possible. the CPU is expecting to run on PCIe 5.0. Even the CPU Lanes would be running out of spec. Mind you, PCIe4 is probably more than enough for current day needs, but I don't see them supporting it.
  14. ASUS Announces X670 and X670E Motherboards, including Flagship ROG Crosshair X670E Extreme

From what I've read so far, the "E" or "Extreme" chipset will come with 2 PCIe5x16 slots. Don't know how they're gonna manage that considering there are only 24 PCIe 5.0 lanes coming off the CPU..
  15. AM4 Platform “Will Continue for Many Years to Come,” says AMD Chair and CEO Dr. Lisa Su

AM4 was a great platform... Let it retire a happy little clam. AM5 is where they need to be focusing, bringing the same level of commitment they did with AM4 to the AM5 platform!!
  16. Screen Burn Qled/Oled

My apologies. I do not have any Organic LED screens. Missed that in my initial read.. :(
  17. Screen Burn Qled/Oled

I've got monitors from LG, Dell and BenQ. The LG is the latest one I've got (LG 27UL500-W), and the Dell and BenQ are older monitors. My TV's are all older VIZIO TV's. I haven't bought a new TV in like, 5 years..
  18. Screen Burn Qled/Oled

All my VIZIO TV's have yet to experience any screen burn. My monitors too, nothing. I'm sure it can happen but not to me yet..
