  1. Hogwarts Legacy Is Getting a Free PC Modding Support Update on January 30

I hope you're right, but if the assets are encrypted there is not much that can be done.
  2. Hogwarts Legacy Is Getting a Free PC Modding Support Update on January 30

After looking further into it, it seems like this is more an extensive customization app, than actual modding. They are probably opening some development tools that they streamlined. It seems this app will be exclusive to EGS, but the uploaded and approved "mods" will be available in the steam...
  3. Hogwarts Legacy Is Getting a Free PC Modding Support Update on January 30

I'm not liking this: Meaning the only way to install mods is through their system? I hope this is just an option and not an attempt at censoring mods they don't like.
  4. Assassin’s Creed Shadows Delayed to March 20, 2025 as Ubisoft Pledges a “High-Quality, Immersive Experience” for New Action RPG Set During 16...

Apparently youtube are now deleting Japanese videos critical of the game as "hate speech". While their official twix account blocks everyone who is critical. When public opinion is so much against you wouldn't it be better to address it instead of trying to ignore it? Ubisoft is running at a...
  5. Take-Two Should Price GTA VI at “$80, or Even $100” to Help the Game Industry Rebound in 2025, Analyst Says

Depends on what do you consider a lootbox, since technically when you loot any chest or npc in an RPG it is a lootbox. But if you literally get an item called "lootbox" in your inventory that only decides what will be in it when you open it, that's cancer even for free.
  6. DOOM: The Dark Ages Will Be the “Most Ambitious DOOM Game to Date” When Prequel Launches for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox App for Windows PC, Steam, P...

And you need to go back to Quake 2 for a single player one. As one of the few people that actually liked Unreal 2, I wish for a proper single player Unreal even more.
  7. Take-Two Should Price GTA VI at “$80, or Even $100” to Help the Game Industry Rebound in 2025, Analyst Says

Blizzard is just learning that lesson now the hard way as Marvel Rivals sucked away Overwatch players. Time for the industry to realize that live service / microtransaction games compete for a limited playerbase's attention. While single player offline games can coexist without sucking the life...
  8. Take-Two Should Price GTA VI at “$80, or Even $100” to Help the Game Industry Rebound in 2025, Analyst Says

Development costs went up, but also did reach, likely by a similar magnitude. But at the same time manufacturing and distribution cost went to almost zero, since most games are sold digitally now. I think this alone compensates for the effects of inflation. While great games could get away...
  9. Sony to End Production of Blu-ray Disc Media, MiniDisc for Recording, and More in February: “There Will Be No Successor Models”

I own a bunch of DVDs too but I don't think they are ever getting out of their cases again. I haven't even had a DVD player in over a decade. Swapping discs after a few episodes is one thing, it is the endless logos and copyright warnings that do my head in. And they dare to say piracy is not a...
  10. DOOM: The Dark Ages Will Be the “Most Ambitious DOOM Game to Date” When Prequel Launches for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox App for Windows PC, Steam, P...

Quake < Doom < Quake 2 < Doom II is how I'd rank the games. I could never get into the modern ones. Doom 3, Quake 4, the new Doom 2016 were all misses for me.
  11. Sony to End Production of Blu-ray Disc Media, MiniDisc for Recording, and More in February: “There Will Be No Successor Models”

I purchased all of one BD product, the entire series box set of the BSG remake. But if I actually wanted to watch it I'd probably just grab a torrent instead. As for recordable media, I never even seen one in person. 25GB was so insignificant by the time it became widely accessible that I never...
  12. Square Enix Celebrates the Launch of FFVII REBIRTH on PC with New Artwork and a Breakdown of the Latest Features, Including Enhanced Lighting and T...

It's so convoluted not even those familiar with it agree on the order of things. If you ask an FF fan where is a good entry point they'll suggest games even the remakes of are so outdated they belong in the previous millennium.
  13. Square Enix Celebrates the Launch of FFVII REBIRTH on PC with New Artwork and a Breakdown of the Latest Features, Including Enhanced Lighting and T...

This is one of those IPs that seemingly has no beginning or end. As someone unfamiliar with it, I have no clue what's going on with all these numbers. And if that wasn't confusing enough there are multiple distinct games under the same roman numerical, like here.
  14. SilverStone Introduces the Lucid 04, an Aquarium-Inspired Micro-ATX Chassis with Tempered Glass Front and Side Panels for a 270-Degree Panoramic View

90° + 90° = 270° What's funny is how every outlet just reposts the press release without stopping to question the claim.
  15. Custom NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090/5080 Pricing Revealed by U.S. Retailers, Including ASUS ROG Astral GeForce RTX 5090 32GB GDDR7 OC Edition for $2,799.99

Imagine paying $3000 for 20% additional performance. I'd not switch if it cost me $300.
  16. SilverStone Revives a Classic with the FLP01, a Retro-Inspired HTPC Chassis That Takes Cues from a 1982 Japanese PC

They should offer a regular version too. The retro theme is cool, but how many people actually want a beige case in 2025? A black edition with non-retro front panel would pay for the tooling costs much better, and maybe then it could have a competitive price.
  17. GameTechBench Is a New High-Performance Benchmark Powered by Unreal Engine 5 for Measuring GPU Performance in Real-World Gaming Scenarios and Offli...

Demo is restricted to 1080p, and it looks absolutely awful, like its running in 320x200. Plus it runs with vsync on, so not really selling me on this "cutting edge" claim. Seems like an asset flip to me, but the experts will probably know more if it is at least any good as a benchmark.
  18. Take-Two Should Price GTA VI at “$80, or Even $100” to Help the Game Industry Rebound in 2025, Analyst Says

The previous games had no microtransactions, that's a larger revenue source than just the game price. They probably would but over tons of work tons of revenue, they chose zero work, lots of revenue. Besides COD is not an open world massive game like GTA, you can make a "new" COD every other...
