  1. NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti Expected to Cost Around $1,099

$100 over my expectations. I still expect it to be right at the $1,000 mark when it releases in the States. How do you know that the 6900 XT is faster when the 3080 Ti isn't even out, yet? Regardless, we know that the 3080 Ti is using the full fat chip from the 3090, so we can expect...
  2. Free-to-Play Games on Xbox No Longer Require an Xbox Live Gold Membership for Online Multiplayer

About time. It's been this way forever on PlayStation since Sony started requiring PS+ for commercial multiplayer games.
  3. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake in Development at Aspyr Media

Is it a remake, or an updated re-release in the vein of the KOTOR II version that they recently made for digital platforms? I'd be happy either way. The first game doesn't have nearly as many bugs or missing content as the second one, but it would still be nice for it to get the same kind of...
  4. NVIDIA Considers GeForce RTX 30 Series Its Best Launch Ever

I know Samsung supplies a SoC called Exynos for their own phones and some of Apple's. It's built on a separate low power 8nm node. The node NVIDIA uses is unique, though. They also have their DRAM and V-NAND fabs. Samsung is #2 to TSMC, I'm just not very knowledgeable about everything they...
  5. Microsoft Developing Completely Redesigned Store App for Windows 10

One of the things they're doing is allowing developers to upload Win32 apps without the need to be packaged in a MSIX. Reading the FAQ on MSIX is hilarious because in my experience, none of the things they boast about have been true. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/msix/overview
  6. Talks Between Microsoft and Discord Have Reportedly Fallen Through

They reportedly got 3 other offers, but turned them all down.
  7. Ubisoft Shutting Down Servers for Rainbow Six Vegas, Ghost Recon: Future Soldier, and Other Classic Titles

I had a lot of fun in the Rainbow 6 Vegas multiplayer, but I haven't played it in years. I think the last time I did was 2009? I never was able to get the last stupid achievement on the Xbox 360 version of the first one for hosting a full 16 player game. I guess I'll have to see if I can get...
  8. Microsoft Could Be Buying Discord for More than $10 Billion

Talks on a deal for Microsoft to acquire Discord have ended. https://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2021-04-20-discord-ends-acquisition-talks-with-microsoft-report (WSJ is source, but you need a subscription to read the article.)
  9. Windows 10’s User Interface Design Update Teased in New Images

Are we going to eventually come back full circle to aero when people realize that having depth to the UI to distinguish things is a good idea? So sick and tired of "modern" flat interfaces.
  10. Latest Windows 10 Updates Blamed for Slower Game Performance, BSODs

Does anyone with a gaming PC not turn the power plan up to at least High performance? I go beyond that and turn all of those power saving features off on every fresh Windows install.
  11. Sony Allegedly Paid Capcom to Delay Its PC Ports of Monster Hunter World and Monster Hunter World: Iceborne

The tweet is the result of the person reading the meeting notes misinterpreting what they say. They are just talking about the marketing deal and conditions. The guy who posted the tweet already conceded he got it wrong.
  12. NVIDIA Considers GeForce RTX 30 Series Its Best Launch Ever

As far as I know the Samsung 8nm node that NVIDIA is on isn't being used by anybody else.
  13. DVD Sales Keep Increasing Despite Blu-ray and Other Higher-Quality Alternatives

I've had a good experience with WinDVD Pro for standard BR. Not going to jump through all the BS to try and play UHD on my PC when I have 3 consoles now that can do so natively.
  14. Amazon Cancels Its Free-to-Play Lord of the Rings MMO

Twitch is a streaming service that already existed and Amazon managed to turn it into a trash heap. Twitch makes most of its money from thirsty whales watching thots treating the service like a cam girl site, not people playing video games.
  15. DVD Sales Keep Increasing Despite Blu-ray and Other Higher-Quality Alternatives

I still have one on my PC, as well, and is the reason I'm still rocking a full size chassis because smaller ones don't come with external 5.25" drive bays anymore.
  16. Report: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti Ready for Mass Production with New ETH Mining Limiter

So what's to stop miners from mining other coins with this video card?
  17. MSI Announces Oculux NXG253R Esports Gaming Monitor

360 Hz on an IPS panel? Good luck with that. Should have made it a TN panel. I could believe the hype if it were made with a TN panel.
  18. Avoid the Thrustmaster T80 Ferrari 488 Gtb Edition Racing Wheels For Ps4 Pc

Thrustmaster makes some good wheels, but you get what you pay for. Going in for a wheel at the $100 price point you should keep your expectations low. The TS-XW is supposed to be really good, but that is $700. Have read mixed things about the TMX Pro for $250. Thrustmaster's bungee cord...
  19. Anyone play Stellaris?

Reading reviews for this just leaves me confused. It's on Game Pass for PC and consoles, so I was just going to give it a go through that.
  20. DVD Sales Keep Increasing Despite Blu-ray and Other Higher-Quality Alternatives

I have been buying nothing but UHD Blu-ray for the past 5 years. I started before I even got a 4K TV since you got a standard Blu-ray included anyway. Some things just don't or won't see release on UHD, so in those cases I'll buy a standard BR if it's something I really want. Arrow Video has...
