  1. Forza Horizon 5 Gets a Visual and Performance Boost with New NVIDIA DLSS 2.4, AMD FSR 2.2, and DirectX Ray Tracing Updates

The Hot Wheels expansion is decent but yeah the original game/area is not worth coming back to yet
  2. Gainward Delays GeForce RTX 4090 Shipments, 12VHPWR Adapter Cables Must Be Replaced: “Affects Every Card in the Market”

Fix what exactly? There is no engineering or technical reason as to why the melting is occurring. Trying to cause melting has been unsuccessful within spec (600w) even by breaking/damaging the connector/adapter Hopefully Gamer's Nexus can find out what's causing it with them gathering as many...
  3. AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX Matches NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 in Cyberpunk 2077 and Metro Exodus 4K Benchmarks, Comes Close in Watch Dogs: Legion

I'd recommend holding off on any new Samsung monitors until they have gone through extensive testing A lot of their high-end monitors have had issues
  4. AMD Announces Radeon RX 7900 XT (20 GB, $899) and Radeon RX 7900 XTX (24 GB, $999) RDNA 3 Graphics Cards with DisplayPort 2.1, 2x 8-Pin Power Conne...

  5. AMD Announces Radeon RX 7900 XT (20 GB, $899) and Radeon RX 7900 XTX (24 GB, $999) RDNA 3 Graphics Cards with DisplayPort 2.1, 2x 8-Pin Power Conne...

NVIDIA is holding back a fully unlocked chip which should bring ~10% more performance I'm not saying that AMD has a bad product - far from it. Just that NVIDIA has no competition on the 'gaming crown'. That is why I'm disappointed. The 6900XT and 6950XT were competitive with the 3090/TI and...
  6. AMD Announces Radeon RX 7900 XT (20 GB, $899) and Radeon RX 7900 XTX (24 GB, $999) RDNA 3 Graphics Cards with DisplayPort 2.1, 2x 8-Pin Power Conne...

At 4K the 4090 is beating the 7900XTX in Watch Dogs Legion without RT according to the numbers AMD provided and that is a pretty AMD favored title Also the 4090 appears to match the 7900XTX in CoD MW2 and that is heavily AMD favored This is a disappointing generation for top end performance for...
  7. NVIDIA AIC Partners Asked to Collect RTX 4090 Cards Affected by Melted 16-Pin Power Connectors

I would bet that NVIDIA/AIBs will send out replacement squids free of cost to the end user (all covered by NVIDIA) The big question for me is how fast can they re-engineer the squid and produce it to the quantity needed for the replacements & new shipments
  8. NVIDIA AIC Partners Asked to Collect RTX 4090 Cards Affected by Melted 16-Pin Power Connectors

The air temp of really bad airflow cases can easily be higher than 120F so that seems like a non-issue (in that specific case) Edit --- According to experts the connectors should be good to 105C so yeah that is more than fine
  9. USB4 Version 2.0 Could Support Up to 120 Gbps Asymmetric Data Transfer Speeds

Not well The current iteration is 40gbps and it still has massive problems with stuttering from every review I've watched on it This new standard is 40 symmetric and 80 asymmetric, it should 'fix' it Not apples to apples but a good comparison of the limits of 40gbps thunderbolt -
  10. USB4 Version 2.0 Could Support Up to 120 Gbps Asymmetric Data Transfer Speeds

This is PCIe 3.0 x16 speeds If the latency is good this could be the fix for external GPUs not counting Asus's incredibly expensive proprietary solution
  11. Arc A770 Is 14% Faster on Average than NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 at 1080p Gaming with Ray Tracing, according to Intel Benchmarks

You just need to use an upscaler and it's more than playable That said we have no idea how XeSS looks and all their marketing videos have used purposely invalid comparisons
  12. AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 2.0 Is Seemingly Just as Good as NVIDIA DLSS 2.0

The point of the tensor cores is to speed up the processing. Instead of the upscaling adding 5ms to the frame it adds 2ms. So if you are getting 60fps at 1080p and want to temporally upscale to 4K, it would be the difference between 53.5fps (tensor cores) and 46.2fps (no tensor cores) These...
  13. AMD’s New Preview Driver Enables Up to 30% Better Performance for Select DX11 Titles on Radeon RX 6000 Series Graphics Cards

10% improvements are nothing to sneeze at but AMD marketing is something else. DX12 became the default WoW renderer in 2018. Maybe if this driver supported cards that don't support DX12 but it doesn't. Shadowlands was AMD sponsored for DX12 and ray-traced shadows.
  14. PCIe 5.0 SSDs with Up to 14 GB/S of Bandwidth Will Be Ready for Consumers in 2024

PCIE 5.0 x16 with 4 of these drives would be as fast/faster as DDR4 bandwidth-wise. I wonder what the latency would be if it could be used as RAM. Imagine only needing something like 2 x 4GB of RAM and using this as a swap file. Add in DirectStorage and I think it would work incredibly well.
  15. PCIe 5.0 SSDs with Up to 14 GB/S of Bandwidth Will Be Ready for Consumers in 2024

For consumers, I don't see the point. If Direct Storage was a thing being leveraged, maybe. But at this point, I don't think that it ever will for games at least. Games have to be written in such a way that they will actually leverage the bandwidth correctly and they are starting to be. I...
  16. EVGA GeForce RTX 3050 XC BLACK GAMING Review

Just a heads up for Forza Horizon 5. Ray tracing only is applied during the 'Vista' mode. Essentially when your car is in the garage or at owned house. There shouldn't be any difference during gameplay with RT enabled. Amazing review. So many different graphical settings compared.
  17. AMD Radeon RX 6500 XT Could Be a “Disaster in the Making” for PCIe 3.0 Systems Due to Memory and Bandwidth Limitations

This is an 'old' card that was benchmarked. So unless AMD fixed it and then broke it again after the 5500XT was released, I can't see this as being a driver issue. The results of the 5500XT are similar to launch.
  18. NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Graphics Cards Might Be Easier to Find

1080p gaming card that can push DLSS with some RT features seems like a good option if the price point can be hit. A 2060 is currently 450-500+ so getting 1660 Super performance at 250 is a steal in the current market. That said, even if AIBs hit the target, scalpers/miners are going to...
  19. ASUS Demonstrates Prototype DDR5 to DDR4 Converter Card for Z690 Motherboards

I think it depends on cost. If they can produce half as many different boards due to the conversion kit, I think it's a massive win.
