Intel Arc B580 “Battlemage” GPU Pricing and Specifications Have Surfaced

Probably. But I also presume they will be way more mature at launch than last gen. Some of the driver maturity and lessons learned will be inherited by this one.

Intel Arc B580 “Battlemage” GPU Pricing and Specifications Have Surfaced

Wait, didn't Intel just announce that they weren't releasing discrete GPU's anymore?

Microsoft Blocks Windows 11 24H2 Update on PCs with Star Wars Outlaws, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, and Other Ubisoft Games Installed

One could convincingly argue that in the Internet age, where everything is always connected, it is a very bad idea to use any software that is not actively maintained, so such software should be considered EOL and unusable unless you are air gapped.

Microsoft Blocks Windows 11 24H2 Update on PCs with Star Wars Outlaws, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, and Other Ubisoft Games Installed

Fair, but it is an "old" design. Ubisoft should get their **** together and update their releases over time to be compatible with the latest OS Revisions. They are starting to sound like Bethesda for crying out loud. That said, there are literally millions of different software programs...

“Complete Sunset”: 2K Launcher Has Been Removed from All Games on Steam and the Epic Games Store

I wasn't even thinking about hardware platforms, just PC stores. But I mean, yeah, technically, consoles are all running PC hardware now (though Sony does not use Microsofts API's I don't think, so the games are different)

“Complete Sunset”: 2K Launcher Has Been Removed from All Games on Steam and the Epic Games Store

Indeed. Put all games on all stores. Let the best store win on its own merits, not because it is holding some popular titles hostage.

“Complete Sunset”: 2K Launcher Has Been Removed from All Games on Steam and the Epic Games Store

Thank god. I hate launchers inside launchers. Only time I remember encountering it was when I launched Civilization, and I always found it annoying.

DLSS 3 Accelerates Performance In S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl by 2.4X on GeForce RTX 40 Series GPUs at 4K with All Settings Maxed

By the way, is it normal for this game to compile shaders every time you load it? Or maybe that was just because I upgraded my drivers in between?

NVIDIA Warns of A Gaming GPU Shortage as It Prepares to Launch Its GeForce RTX 50 Series

As far as scalpers go, they just need to be put down. It has gone form being a bunch of **** heads looking to profit from a shortage, to even ****tier **** heads creating their own shortages where there were none, by buying up and hoarding anything and everything desirable, unless someone pays...

NVIDIA Warns of A Gaming GPU Shortage as It Prepares to Launch Its GeForce RTX 50 Series

I mean, DUH. Nvidia still remembers the massive inventory of 10-series GPU's they couldn't get rid of after the mini-downturn in crypto that year when they launched the 20 series. If memory serves they wound up delaying the 20-series launch trying to sell some of them down, keeping low end...

DLSS 3 Accelerates Performance In S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl by 2.4X on GeForce RTX 40 Series GPUs at 4K with All Settings Maxed

I think there is some slight benefit to using more cores on the PC than on consoles, that is relatively easily achieved (because DX 12 does it for you) and that is the aforementioned "draw call" issue. Consoles have a much "closer to hardware" API, as a given model of console has the same...

Gabe Newell Says He Was Attacked by a Shark Recently, But He Wasn’t Really Scared: “I’m Kind of a Weird Person”

I always figured they would just contract it out to a game house that would develop it in Unreal engine.

SilverStone Unveils First Micro-ATX Workstation Chassis with Support for Rear-Connector Motherboards

I don't mind this trend. It should help a lot with cable management. I just hope it becomes an open and uniform standard used by everyone. Would be annoying if we get a mess of different implementations with connectors in different places.

Microsoft Blocks Windows 11 24H2 Update on PCs with Star Wars Outlaws, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, and Other Ubisoft Games Installed

Interesting. Is the expectation now that Microsoft will take responsibility for any old and ****ty software you may have installed on your PC and halt any compatibility breaking update? That seems like kind of a tall order.

DLSS 3 Accelerates Performance In S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl by 2.4X on GeForce RTX 40 Series GPUs at 4K with All Settings Maxed

So I did it. Citing the issues I have had thus far, and the underwhelming performance, (which are real, and not just made up to get a Steam refund) I requested a refund on Steam. I'll probably re-buy it on GoG when I buy it. Best of both worlds I figure. I'll show up in their revenue stats...

DLSS 3 Accelerates Performance In S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl by 2.4X on GeForce RTX 40 Series GPUs at 4K with All Settings Maxed

I'm with you, but at the same time, using CPU cores and actually benefiting from their work are two different things. Nothing in this game stands out to me as being so significantly different from anything that came before it to justify this kind of CPU utilization, which leads me to believe we...

DLSS 3 Accelerates Performance In S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl by 2.4X on GeForce RTX 40 Series GPUs at 4K with All Settings Maxed

Which begs the question, what the hell is resulting in this title being so insanely CPU heavy? Playing at 4k, I'm used to always being GPU limited, never being CPU limited. This has given my CPU's long lifespans. I had read that UE5 was better at multithreading, and maybe that is why we...

DLSS 3 Accelerates Performance In S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl by 2.4X on GeForce RTX 40 Series GPUs at 4K with All Settings Maxed

Some additional testing. Last night I: 1.) Upgraded my Nvidia drivers 2.) Switched the threaderipper to "Game mode" with SMT disabled, and "legacy" something (not sure what that does) 3.) Enabled PBO. The result is a significant improvement. I'm pretty sure most of that is due to the driver...

DLSS 3 Accelerates Performance In S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl by 2.4X on GeForce RTX 40 Series GPUs at 4K with All Settings Maxed

Sorry, maybe I am being slow today, but I can't place "DF", would tyou mind de-abbreviating for me? :p That may be true, but it still looks very pretty. I'm guessng that may be a side effect of moving to UE5, and having to abide by what UE5 can easily do? Indeed. That is how it works...
