MSI GeForce RTX 5080 16G EXPERT OC Video Card Review

gotta say I like the design, but if I was going for a RTX5080; I see no reason to get this over a RTX5080FE.

Graphics Tech startup from the 90s

yup it was a flop, I think it was the last matrox card aimed at gaming. It was the mother of multimonitor gaming. which actually was the route Matrox took. with cards aimed at video walls mutimonitor cards

Graphics Tech startup from the 90s

There was that, but AFAIK the technology they acquired from Gigapixel, was too little too late. So they didn't have the chance to implement the technology in 3dfx designs. Funny thing, by the time nvidia acquired 3dfx technologies they were already behind so much that nvidia didn't use any of...

Graphics Tech startup from the 90s

It was Bitboys Oy and Gigapixel I recall they were both supposed to take the graphics market by storm and obliterate everything else. None of them delivered Bitboys ended up with AMD and Gigapixel was aquired by 3dfx. In 3dfx case, its argued that buying Gigapixel was a bad move and contributed...

Graphics Tech startup from the 90s

Does anyone remember a tech startup that was supposed to take over the big three? 3dfx, ATI (now AMD) and nvidia back in the 90s? They ended up being vaporware, never releasing a working product. Can't remember the name. Actually, I think there were 2 startups.

Anandtech’s Archives Disappear Without a Trace

I miss Anandtech more than I'll ever miss [H}, anand's in depth tech articles were industry leading. [H} content while it had its own spin, it wasn't as in depth nor technical compared to Anand (and that's fine, it wasn't its focus) What I remember [H] for is Kyle picking a fight anytime with...

OptiScaler Update Brings AMD FSR 4 to Any DX 11/12 Title and Upcoming RDNA 5 GPU Is Rumored to Feature 96 CUs with 384-Bit VRAM Bus

A more "realistic" expectation is taking say a mobile RTX 5000. Sure, you could fit a mobile RTX5090 in a console for desktop level RTX 4090 performance, but it would be too d*mn expensive.

OptiScaler Update Brings AMD FSR 4 to Any DX 11/12 Title and Upcoming RDNA 5 GPU Is Rumored to Feature 96 CUs with 384-Bit VRAM Bus

Actually, depending on how low you go, performance difference is minimal, that's why undervolting is becoming very popular. But even if you undervolt power will rise automatically depending on load. So power draw will still be high, just not htat high.

OptiScaler Update Brings AMD FSR 4 to Any DX 11/12 Title and Upcoming RDNA 5 GPU Is Rumored to Feature 96 CUs with 384-Bit VRAM Bus

If I'm not mistaken, so far, there hasn't been a console that beats the prior gen top of the line GPU. Not saying it can't happen, but odds are against it. Even taking the current 9070XT and "shrinking" it to fit an APU would be a monumental task.

OptiScaler Update Brings AMD FSR 4 to Any DX 11/12 Title and Upcoming RDNA 5 GPU Is Rumored to Feature 96 CUs with 384-Bit VRAM Bus

So, AMD couldn't make a 9000 series card to compete with the RTX4090, but suddenly they can build an APU that can match it?

Well, if the RTX5070 performs like a RTX4090, clearly the Xbox custom APU could to it too, right?... right?
