It may be the alzheimer talking but I don't recall 3dfx being the dominant market share leader.

For those of you that witnessed the Cenozoic era, you'll remember there was a time that AMD (ATI) actually had the majority of the market share. But it's been decades since nvidia has been the dominant player in gaming, I can't remember the last time nvidia had less than 70% market share...

AFAIK the next FSR installment with RDNA4 is done by AI cores not compute units.

I don't understand why not go with a more recent cpu architecture. Zen3 is much more efficient and a lot better at gaming than zen2 to begin with. I also wonder if the AI portion is handled by the cpu like the Ryzen AI series or the gpu with RDNA4 which AFAIK integrates AI in hardware.

Care to share some examples? my experience is nothing short of perfect, actually better than a real PS2, but then again, I only play a few PS2 titles. Duckstation is AWESOME, I was a loyal epsxe user for decades but once I got into duckstation it was a whole new experience.

How long since you tried PCSX2? It's a great emulator with tons of features and compatibility. I won't even touch a real PS2 after using PCSX2.

Agree to disagree, implementation, it doesn't matter how much die space you use, it's how you use it efficiently. You could argue that AMD is wasting die space with its ray accelerator as it's not as efficient as nvidia or even intel.

I think it has more to do with the implementation, rather than the die space. AMD doesn't really have dedicated RT cores a la nvidia/intel. They mostly make the compute units to do the heavylifting. Same goes for FSR.

As some others have pointed out, this is not the first time AMD has focused on the mainstream market, but it really hasn't payed off, AMD hasn't been able to gain significant market share regardless. On a sidenote, where are all the multchip GPUs? there should be cards from intel, amd and even...

I don't think AMD has to release a RTX5900 Killer, but if they can stay neck and neck with say a RTX 5700 for a good price, that would be something. And please fix RT and FSR. BTW nvidia has been selling its top tier card like hotcakes for generations they have been historically hard to find...
