I dont know about your friend, but I doubt he represents me at all. Nintendo is a very easy choice with kids, and being portable is a huge plus, that is used routinely.

There is zero threat to the gaming industry. There is always a posibility of screwing up multimillion dollar investments in making boring repetitive games sure.
Gaming industry will probably get even bigger and more accesible to creators with AI, if anything the problem that will get even worse...
So how it works is... Your computer, MS, and the goverment have the keys, to which you have no access. You know, its the state farm you are In goods hands security type situation.

Honestly, I used to react more to such things as losing A3d sound support and such, but really in the end, its how it goes. In consoles, its just that you buy a whole box that may or may not change everything, with computers different things just lose support at different times.
Who knew all AMD had to do was release a good mid range card properly priced with functional drivers, and Nvidia is showing all kinds of weaknesses. If AMD can keep it together for a bit maybe they will gain a point or five in marketshare.
