RAM is new, testted it anyway and it seem to be ok. I'm trying a different PSU

Nothing on the windows logs. Ram settings at defaults, nothing overclocked.

So I have a friend who I recently changed his dead mobo. An Asus B550 with a Ryzen 5600G and a GTX1080. I setup everything, installed windows, updated mobo/gpu drivers and everything seemed fine. So today he installed WoW and upon start it would reboot the PC, no BSOD, just instant reboot...

thing is Unity is not much better. AFAIK UE5 is great for real time virtual world rendering that's used in lots of tv shows/movies. Sure, you need dozens of RTX x90 level of cards, but still.

Ok this is where the plot thickens. So I got the new mobo (Asus B5550 Wifi), set it up and it gives me a RAM beep, I try 4 ram sticks same thing, they all work on my own rig. I clean all of them with an eraser, try one... beep, 2nd one... beep, third one, BOOT UP finally. I double check...

So the mb has a button, I tought it was a power button but did nothing. Turns out its a bios flash button, I figured maybe the bios was corrupt, pretty common with gigabyte mb IME. I got the latest bios, flashed it into a USB and gave it a try. Couldn't make it work. I tried several guides...

I'll check into that, I recently installed updates so that might have borked the power serttings, you know much windows loves to mess with settings after updates.

So a few days ago I noticed that my work laptop which I use mostly at home, is having a weird wifi issue If I disconnect the laptop from the AC outlet, it will loose wifi (even on a full charge), it will show as its connected but you can't surf or use the network at all, for example Facebook...

Unfortunately, the mobo is too big to fit on my toaster/oven. The idea of "baking it" crossed my mind.

I took everything off the case and tested it individually. I tested the mobo/cpu with a different PSU and RAM, won't post, won't turn off. Tested the RAM/SSD/PSU/GPU on a fully working setup. Everything runs fine. My friend is tight on money right now, so it might take a while till he gets...

My wishful thinking was that it would stand between the RTX 4070 and 4070Super, but if you were on the market for a RTX 4060Ti, might as well get this.

Actually, I've done this dozens of times even between intel and AMD, mostly on desktops, ever since windows 7, windows 10 has been much more forgiving with drivers specially storage drivers. Only time I had trouble was when using RAID. Doing it in windows XP even with sysprep was a hit or miss.

I disabled secureboot, the SSD gets recognized in the bios as a boot device, but it won't boot, like it didn't have a boot partition. Re-enabled sucureboot, put back the original HDD and it didn't boot either, but I was able to select a boot partition. I don't think the SSD had bitlocker...

make that 3, I remember a cracked die on a Barton cpu, IIRC than was not uncommon with TB/Barton AMD CPUs back then, you had to be really careful installing the cooling fan.

So a friend of mine's hp laptop just died, he wants to swap the SSD from it to a Dell. The HP is intel and the Dell is AMD, but that's not the problem. The thing is I assume secure boot won't make it easy (possible?), what should I do for it to work? To clarify, the idea is to use the hp...

In my 35+ years as a pc enthusiast I've only seen 2 dead CPUs a P4 and an AMD Duron from clients. In my mind intel CPU are for all means and purposes, inmortal. My friend's fear is that it might end up being both. Very unlikely, but not out of the question.

I actually do have a B550 motherboard lying around but I'm not sure it works either: it behaves exactly the same as the other one. My friend is getting a new mb to test the cpu, worst case he'll get a Ryzen 7 5700. he doesn't have the budget to upgrade to the 7000 series much less 9000 series...

So I'm checking a friend's PC that won't boot. Its a gigabyte B550 mobo coupled with a Ryzen 5 5600G The pc will turn on, fans will spin, but it won't boot, I tested the ram PSU,, SSD and videocard separately and they all work fine. Thing is the CPU will not get hot at all, also the PC won't...
