Ok, finally started Cyberpunk 2077 (base edition, no PL). It's. Ok. I guess. It gives me the option to play as a corpo fem boy which is... I mean hey I can so will. Takes a while to get going, after 4 hours it feels like the plot is actually starting to pick up with the "heist gone wrong"...

Beat the Imperial Guard campaign for DoW2 Retribution. Fun and easy enough, nothing to write home about. One of those "one size fits all playable factions" type thing which is fine, the Imp Guard campaign seemed to fit into the plot fairly nicely. I'll leave it installed and at least goof...

- Yup, if you can light a scene with a simple AI "shader" pass instead of doing all the dirty work of actually casting rays and such for a fraction of the computational cost with even 95% of the accuracy... why the hell would you waste your time with actual RT or even PT?

- Honestly if you're at the 7900XT/4070Ti Super level of performance or above already, there really isn't much of a meaningful upgrade path until you hit the 4090 or 5090. It really comes down to what features you value and how fat your wallet is.

- Problem with all frame gen solutions is they perform the worst when you need them the most. Low base FPS means input lag and way more artifacting than if you're starting with a high base FPS. I'm going to give a couple games a shot (cyberpunk for example) with AMD's FG turned on so I can see...

-I mean a live in person test. It could be filmed ofc, but the people being subject to the test would be seeing gameplay rendered in real time a natural.

Honestly it feels like we're at the point where unless you're specifically pixel peeping, most of this stuff is going to look roughly equivalent to everything else (at least as far as upscaling is concerned, jury is out on FG) in terms of actual gameplay. I think a far more entertaining test...

Weird use of the Marathon property. Anyone old enough to remember what Marathon was isn't going to care for some cookie cutter shooter, and anyone young enough to still care about Bungie isn't going see the draw of Marathon as a property.

- Its literally what Nvidia does everytime they release a DLSS update (the recent DLSS 4.5 update for example). The driver simply intercepts the DLL calls and injects its own. Its not like every game with DLSS has to manually be updated to the new DLSS version.

-AMD's drivers will actually inject FSR4 into any FSR3 compatible game out there (FSR3 switched to an Nvidia style dll model, so versions are easily swappable) so there is supposedly way more FSR4 compatibility out there than it first seems if you're specifically looking for games built with FSR4.
