Trends from the April 2026 Steam Hardware Survey

I'd rather they ask than just do sh1t without my permission or knowledge. This is fine if it is opt-out by default, and the user has to manually opt-in. I dunno if I want them doing all that. I like the current system cuz they ask first, and then the hardware scan happens.

Trends from the April 2026 Steam Hardware Survey

This time I got asked to participate in the survey two days in a row. Yesterday when I was in Linux, and today in Win10. Usually I only get asked once maybe a couple/few times a year, if that.

ASRock Develops HUDIMM: A New DDR5 Standard That Cuts Module Chip Count in Half

I downloaded music on dial-up but I never played games on it. I waited until I went to college and had access to their T1 line. First game I ever played online was Unreal Tournament 1. Got my @ss handed to me, and it was those college years that taught me that I'm an offline against-the-bots...

Microsoft Is Force-Upgrading All Windows 11 24H2 PCs to 25H2, and You Can’t Opt Out

I've been using CachyOS on my secondary desktop PC since last year, and I think it's going to become my new main OS in the future. I've been using Manjaro happily since 2022, but there's some strife going on behind-the-scenes with the Manjaro group, and I question the distro's future. Not to...

New Xbox CEO Reportedly Told Employees That “Game Pass Has Become Too Expensive for Players”

Game Pass might be more appealing to console users, but on PC we have something called sales (thanks to places like Steam and GOG), and we have long lived in an age where a PC game can launch at $60 and then be $30 just a few months later, and $5 the very next year. And if you bother with EGS...

Metro 2039 Officially Announced — Full Reveal Thursday, 4A Games Returns to Post-Apocalyptic Moscow

I checked out the Metro series here and there, but couldn't get into them until Exodus. I played the Enhanced Edition and the DLCs, and enjoyed it all. I only paid about 6 dollars for the game + expansions so it was low risk. I wanted something to check out on my new-for-me RTX 3090 in 2023, and...

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced Is the Official Title of the Classic Game’s Modernized Remake, Which Will Feature New Characters and Stories

Yeah from what I understand, Black Flag is the most highly regarded of all the AC games, and the reason people like it is not because it is an AC game, but because it is a pirate game (and an apparently good one at that).

Microsoft Standardizes Shader Execution Reordering in DirectX: Intel Arc Sees Up to 90% Ray Tracing Boost

Although they and Intel both had DisplayPort 2.x before nVidia did. I think AMD also had HDMI 2.1 before nVidia did. AMD fully supported low-level APIs like D3D12 and Vulkan before nVidia did. And in those days nVidia didn't have full support, for example Async Compute was faked in software. It...

Forza Horizon 6 PC Specs Revealed: GTX 1650 At Minimum, RTX 5070 TI For Ray Tracing Extreme

I'm headed towards 400 hours in FH5 and I also have a lot of time in FH4, but I played 5 before 4 so most of my time was spent in 5. But just cuz I liked 4 and 5 doesn't mean I will like 6. Like the previous two games, I'll have to get hands-on first. And 2nd, gonna need it to come way down in...
