Xbox’s Next-Gen Console Has Been “Fully Approved” by Microsoft, It’s Claimed as Console Gamers Attempt to Cope with More and More Games Com...

I still have a hard time associating "2027" with "next year". Still feels like it should be ... I dunno... 2013 or something. Where has the time gone?

AMD Could Be Prepping a Flagship Next-Gen GPU Featuring 96 Compute Units with Memory on a 512-Bit Bus

Then why exactly are we pushing RT so heavily? I mean, if I'm honest, apart from those ridiculous reflections on mud puddles in the CyberPunk trailers... I'm not really seeing the vast image quality benefit over more traditional light maps. It may be easier from a developer point of view, as...

Build choice - am4 with more ram or am5 with less?

In my experience - memory was always a binary thing (no pun intended): either you had enough, or you didn't. Whatever that magic number is - having more didn't really help (unless you had ~a lot~ more and could start RAM caching ridiculous amounts or something), and if you are under that magic...

A Troubling Trend Is Growing as PC Hardware Manufacturers Cancel Orders Only to Repost the Same Product at a Higher Price

To make it easy legal, all they would have to do is change the SKU. The reason for the change can be arbitrary really... but once the SKU changes they can legit say they were out of what you ordered and could only fulfill your order with a different part at a higher price. Now - they probably...

NVIDIA Shield Devices Continue to Get Support a Decade After Release from Passionate Engineers Who Helped Create Them

I owned the smaller one for a while but didn't catch on with me. I use an AppleTV as a streaming box, and the only thing the Shield did that the AppleTV couldn’t do better was nVidia game streaming

NVIDIA Shield Devices Continue to Get Support a Decade After Release from Passionate Engineers Who Helped Create Them

I’m really amazed nVidia hasn't f’d this up. I agree this is cool

AMD Could Be Prepping a Flagship Next-Gen GPU Featuring 96 Compute Units with Memory on a 512-Bit Bus

is it though? All the growth in gaming seems to not be in areas where you need high performance PCs. Just going off a hunch - I would bet its still in mobile F2P titles with whales, and titles intended to run on a potato and sell funny hats - like Fortnight and TF2 You don’t need discrete...

Microsoft Acknowledges the Need to Improve Windows 11 Following Months of Buggy Updates

It's not just bad updates Ads AI everywhere Hoovering of your personal data and not being transparent about it Edge keeps mysteriously setting itself to default... WTF happened to notepad? All these years later and it's still a mashup of old and new UI elements - the classic Control Panel vs...

NVIDIA DLSS 4.5 Upscaling Performance Review & Analysis

Frame Gen tech has me concerned on two fronts. Maybe my concerns aren't valid, but it's enough to leave me unimpressed and not excited. First - Fidelity. Is what you are seeing what the developer intended? It may look beautiful, but if it's not what the developer intended, then you may as well...

    The Z Build(s) 3.0 - Go Big and/or Go Home

Interesting. I've often seen arresting diodes on coils to prevent inductive kick, but first time I've seen a bleeder used like this external to equipment. I do like how you are using the diodes to make the 12V PSUs redundant parallel supplies.

This is how badly Intel screwed itself over

I have to say, as a long time Mac OS user myself - I don't think you are wrong. MacOS isn't exactly trending in a great direction. Most of the time I use my Macbook - it's either Excel and email, and increasingly just CLI unix tools. The ARM macbooks are excellent hardware, but MacOS (well...

This is how badly Intel screwed itself over

Yeah the fact that Intel drove Optane into the ground is flabbergasting. That was a great tech. There were a lot of missteps by Intel - the massive bloat of the 00/10's followed by the inevitable divestiture of those techs. McAfee was a good example. The Drone division, remember that?

NVIDIA Denies EOL Rumors for GeForce RTX 50 Series, Lays Blame on Memory Supply Shortages, While AMD Says It’s Working to Keep Its GPUs at MSRP

Well, nVidia isn't TSMC-exclusive either. For instance: Samsung made the entire 3000/Ampere series, and a good chunk of 1000/Pascal series.

NVIDIA Denies EOL Rumors for GeForce RTX 50 Series, Lays Blame on Memory Supply Shortages, While AMD Says It’s Working to Keep Its GPUs at MSRP

I hit this point about 10 years ago. It's saved me a ton of money on computer parts (which I then went and blew on car parts)
