I loved that game but it was glitchy

Marathon was a good game back in the ‘90s — the Mac equivalent of UT or Quake really. But, you know, since it was on the Mac (in the 90s no less) only like 15 people ever played it. Kind of a precursor to Halo, before MS bought them out and made it exclusive

I mean, it works... it booted and ran all that stuff. So that's a big something right there. Maybe not "serious contender" something, but it's more than I've done in my garage with silicon, for sure.

In their defense... very very few developers get to work on projects that are actually their idea. Even/Especially If you get successful, then your ideas get co-opted by board rooms who are investing money. Sure, it may have started as your vision, but there are strings attached to that...

I never thought streaming would supplant physical media either, but here we are. Convenience always seems to trump quality. I wouldn't be surprised to see that developers specifically start to target the latency issue.. I mean, AI can fix anything, right?

The issue isnt development time, costs, or support. If you have a finite amount of resources (in this case - fab capacity and RAM) — and you can make XX% margin making one product, but XX% times 5 making another… the first product will just bleed a slow death until you can get everyone some...
