Marvel’s Wolverine Is Slashing PS5 Sales Records Despite Unflattering Early Reviews

This is the same spin-job that the MCU does. "It is the most successful thing since the last thing" “I only believe in statistics that I doctored myself” ― Winston S. Churchill

New Xbox CEO Reportedly Told Employees That “Game Pass Has Become Too Expensive for Players”

You're right I don't know, but neither does Microsoft, since in order to find out we'd need an alternative universe to check what happens if it's not on games pass. So best we can do is an educated guess. One thing is for sure, it's not enough to tank a game that would be a success otherwise...

Probably Bound to Happen: Increased Power Draw for DLSS 5 Reportedly Claims Its First Victim After a User Finds an RTX 5090 with a Melted Power Ada...

I'm curious whether the melting ever happened on lower tier cards, as in something that is not a 3090, 4090 or 5090.

New Xbox CEO Reportedly Told Employees That “Game Pass Has Become Too Expensive for Players”

Companies love it, because it is a smaller recurring budgetable expense, instead of one giant up-front invoice. But do actual users love it? I highly doubt that. Enterprise buys a ton of software licenses that never gets used, that's just a fact. So the actual users might seem like a vocal...

New Xbox CEO Reportedly Told Employees That “Game Pass Has Become Too Expensive for Players”

Paul Tassi is clueless, yes, I've said it. His opinions are no better than the average reddit user's, his just happens to be published on big name legacy media. It has been proven time and time again, that games pass is irrelevant in the greater scheme of things. Starfield was on it day 1, and...

New Xbox CEO Reportedly Told Employees That “Game Pass Has Become Too Expensive for Players”

I would not be surprised if the next console gen would be the last, then it's only thin clients from then on.

New Xbox CEO Reportedly Told Employees That “Game Pass Has Become Too Expensive for Players”

I have a bad feeling that the industry is heading towards dropping the option to buy games altogether. It will be all subscription and only subscription. You want to play Day 1 title? You pay $29.99 for the first month, then recurring payment of $19.99 second month, gradually dropping to $4.99 /...

A Real Talk Discussion about DLSS 5: 3 Good Things, 5 Bad Things, and 4 Questions For You

I doubt throwing it on as an overlay is representative of the quality or performance when applied as intended.

A Real Talk Discussion about DLSS 5: 3 Good Things, 5 Bad Things, and 4 Questions For You

I'm just interested in the result not the means. I always thought that for 90% of games baked in lighting made more sense. Most lights in most scenes are static so full real time path tracing would be a waste of resources.

A Real Talk Discussion about DLSS 5: 3 Good Things, 5 Bad Things, and 4 Questions For You

I've tried it again in Cyberpunk 2077 and ironically turning it on actually reduces full system power draw by about 10%, probably because due to the halved FPS the CPU has less load.

A Real Talk Discussion about DLSS 5: 3 Good Things, 5 Bad Things, and 4 Questions For You

And if you reverse that: If DLSS 5 can make visuals undistinguishable from full path tracing, then it would reduce or completely negate the need for full path tracing.

Probably Bound to Happen: Increased Power Draw for DLSS 5 Reportedly Claims Its First Victim After a User Finds an RTX 5090 with a Melted Power Ada...

This wasn't about FPS, you said they could've collected valuable data on the meltdown if they used wireview or a similar tool. But the mere inclusion of the tool might have changed the outcome.

A Real Talk Discussion about DLSS 5: 3 Good Things, 5 Bad Things, and 4 Questions For You

Be real, developers haven't been optimizing things for the past 6 years. Just slap DLSS / FSR upscaling on it and call it a day. I think that is far more egregious than neural rendering which at least improves visuals, instead of making it worse. You could also say why do we need ray tracing /...

I think there is already enough data to draw a conclusion what more can they add? I believe they just didn't expect it to happen to them, well like everyone else. But also it is important as a tester to make the test environment as close to real-world as possible, if you employ all the tools...

A Real Talk Discussion about DLSS 5: 3 Good Things, 5 Bad Things, and 4 Questions For You

Well, compared to achieving the same fidelity conventionally it is as good as free. Yes, you can always do more. But if the results are as good as they are even without fine tuning, then I'd not hesitate using it. And even if a developer takes the time to fine tune the intensity on every...

Right, but if it could be ignored before but not now, that means this connector is worse with no safety margin. Undersizing your power supply is a choice. With the cable you have no choice. If I could replace the connector with four PCIE power cords I would, but I can't. You shouldn't need to...

Or just solder it right for the first time? The excessive heating is caused by the bad connection / poor surface contact of the pins combined with load imbalance. If it's soldered then you remove a hole from the swiss cheese model. Also plastic melts away at a lower temperature than solder...
