To the Surprise of Absolutely No One, Chris Roberts Has Said That Squadron 42 Is Getting Delayed

My theory that Squadron 42 is vaporware is still undefeated 12 years later.

Motherboard Prices Are Expected to Increase amid Slower Sales and Rising Manufacturing Costs

Oh, no I don't intend to buy anything. But for someone who wants to do a new build from scratch a laptop might be better value than a desktop at this point.

Motherboard Prices Are Expected to Increase amid Slower Sales and Rising Manufacturing Costs

I hate noise, and I also hate headphones, even on my desktop I had to make a custom fan curve for my GPU for it to be barely tolerable. Of course not, but it is a waste of money to have any kind of dedicated gpu internally if I'm going to use an external GPU. That was my point.

Motherboard Prices Are Expected to Increase amid Slower Sales and Rising Manufacturing Costs

I looked into it and finding a laptop that has thunderbolt 5 doesn't seem that easy to start. The ones that have it already have at least a 5070 Ti built in, but most have a 5090 or 5080. It would make more sense to buy an external GPU if it had no dedicated GPU just an integrated one. But I...

Motherboard Prices Are Expected to Increase amid Slower Sales and Rising Manufacturing Costs

What's not easy to stomach is the noise a gaming laptop makes when at full load. However this is worth considering: https://www.gigabyte.com/Graphics-Card/GV-N5090IXEB-32GD I just don't know if gaming would work properly on an external GPU. What does "near desktop level" means exactly?

From GeForce RTX 4080 with 32GB VRAM to RTX 2080 Ti with 22 GB, Modded GPUs with More Memory Gain in Popularity Overseas

I'm not sure how long they can hide the fact that AI is not making money, but I'm more cynical than you. I think they'd rather put the HW in landfills than let it flood the market when the collapse comes. Nvidia probably has clauses that prevent DCs to sell the GPUs to anyone else, so they'll...

Noctua Plans to Prioritize Performance over Pretty by Abstaining from Adding RGB or LCD to Its Products, For Now

Ideally I see the fans in my PC twice: When I first built it, and when I'm retiring it. But who am I kidding, my current PC, it will probably be my last, so I'll never see those ugly fans again.

From GeForce RTX 4080 with 32GB VRAM to RTX 2080 Ti with 22 GB, Modded GPUs with More Memory Gain in Popularity Overseas

Maybe not for long, local AI models are getting more capable. And I think a lot of people and even professionals are more comfortable paying for their own electricity than paying a giant premium for tokens in the cloud. Not to mention the privacy / data leak concerns.

What is your target FPS for gaming?

Easier maybe, but totally useless. With frametimes you instantly get the full picture based on how high are the spikes and how they are distributed.

What is your target FPS for gaming?

I think the "invention" of the 1% lows have really spoiled the discussion about performance. People treat it as if it is some kind of golden standard, when it's as arbitrary of a line as can be. Why not 0.5% lows, or 2% lows? It's just another data point to look at, that people attribute too...

From GeForce RTX 4080 with 32GB VRAM to RTX 2080 Ti with 22 GB, Modded GPUs with More Memory Gain in Popularity Overseas

I'd risk my 2080Ti to make it 22GB. It's not very useful as is, but with 22GB many common LLMs could be fully loaded to vram

New 13-Minute Control Resonant Trailer Delves into Metro Fault Mission Gameplay

NGL this looks like donkey. The first game was already creepy enough, this is outright disturbing. Also this supposed to be the protagonist from the first game? There is literally zero resemblance.

The First GTA 6 Gameplay Footage is a Netflix Exclusive for Six Hours on August 27

Sure, who cares. By the time it is on PC we'll be fatigued by all the gameplay footage. I have netflix but I probably won't even look at it until it hits public youtube.

It’s Estimated That Grand Theft Auto VI Netted over a Quarter Billion with Its First Week of Pre-Orders

You know that's not an useful comparison, the distribution of pre-orders is not linear along the entire window. Usually it is highest at the start and close to the end, with a big lull in the middle.

It’s Estimated That Grand Theft Auto VI Netted over a Quarter Billion with Its First Week of Pre-Orders

I don't know of any game that released that specific data point. The marketing gurus are not stupid they deliberately release numbers that you can't compare to anything else directly. Cyberpunk 2077 was pre-ordered 8 million times, but it's not known how many of that was in the first week, and...

Ex-Dragon Age Developer Considers It Unlikely a New Game Can Get off the Ground Due to How Those Who Pitch Ideas Are Often Ripped to Shreds

Actually new ideas should be ripped to shreds. Just because you have a new idea doesn't automatically make it good. And even if it is good, input and pushback from others in the team could make it great. But we are in the era of toxic positivity where any pushback or disagreement is frowned...

Halo: Campaign Evolved Gets a Sluggish Start on Steam but Manages Third Place Among Popular Releases

Wrong. Steam is an excellent indicator of how games are doing. One could say it is the only reliable indicator as this is the only number that corporations can't astroturf or hide. Remember when ubisoft wanted it gone? The "oh but think of games pass" excuse was trotted out for indiana jones...

AI PCs Will Become the “New Normal” and Capture 60% of Total PC Shipments This Year as Windows 12 Launches in 2H 2025, Analysts Say

This is so stupid on so many levels. First off, making up the details with AI is not equivalent quality. It is a fake image that we know can and will deviate from reality due to hallucinations. Second, I'm pretty sure bandwith is far cheaper than the computation required to generate video with...
