12th gen didn't go as bananas with voltage scaling and clocks. Why would you say that LOL? This could be a case of the board being the issue. We don't even know if the 285K is dead for certain. And we should always start with PICNIC. A dude on a forum called Overclock may have a dead CPU. He is...

logic is flawed. Raptor Lake is monolithic, and there has never been a more vulnerable CPU generation to "excesses in voltage, heat, current etc."

PlayStation ain't playing https://gigazine.net/gsc_news/en/20210524-playstation-5-game-data-compression/?

Go home ASRock, you're drunk. I would test the 285K in another board, or send it to a friend who could. It may be fine, and the board's firmware is the issue.

Every time I try cloud gaming I nope right out.

I am not setup for frenetic shooters. I also have the aim of a storm trooper from A New Hope. Bump for exposure. ^

This would go over like a lead balloon with PC gamers . https://www.techpowerup.com/348326/xbox-first-party-game-pass-tier-could-have-other-limitations How it feels freeing myself of the MS shackles

False dilemma fallacy. Our choices are not binary. We do not, and should not, choose either of these options. Voting with our wallets is our power.

This is timely as I'm playing Odyssey. BF is most AC players favorite entry in the series. An updated version with all the eye candy should appeal to most of them. If they can retain what made the OG so fun to play.

I bailed a month or so before the price hike. Played Indy Jones and a couple of other new releases, which made the monthly $15 worthwhile. After that there was nothing I wanted to play that I did not already own. Now that I am on Linux full time, microslop can suck it.

AC Odyssey is aging like the best artsian cheddar. Playing on a 5800X3D 7900XTX combo maxed out on every setting that matters at 4K, with a 90fps frame cap on CachyOS, is a much better experience than when I played it back in 2018-19 with a overclocked 4770K through Ryzen 3600 and RX 580 8GB on...

I too, did a play through at launch. It was bundled with the Hell Hound RX 7800XT in my son's PC. There were sections of the game I really liked. However, the copy pasta of so many assets got old fast. Main story was cheesy. I think the last time I was playing they had finally added the ability...

It was indeed the case going way back. But that was then, this is now. Enthusiast whale spending power has become a joke. Kaijus drive everything. Before things get better, if they do, we are going to get thoroughly ROFLstomped Godzilla style. As I would not expect DRAM and NAND prices to stop...

Lord Gaben as they call him, and Valve/Steam, are probably the most favorably viewed leader and company in the gaming space. Having their own branded hardware and OS is working out. Never underestimate brand power.

Middle East is too spicy to keep facilities there as I see it. One missile strike on the facility there would be devastating. They will probably fully abandon the expansion project they halted in 2024. Maybe even move operations currently there to more geographically stable regions. Ireland is a...

Makes way more sense to use off the shelf.

Your melodrama is funny. Sell the AM5 combo, buy a 270k+ and stop the pearl clutching already.

I agree, sell it off.

One of these days I will convince you to stop trusting side by side youtube channels. Looks like they are using SSR on the i5 and RT on the R5. Look at the reflections on the white van.
