  1. From Fortnite to League of Legends and DOTA 2, a New Report Shows PC Gamers Are Spending the Majority of Their Time Playing Older, Free-to-Play Titles

I have a good group of friends that I play Mechwarrior online with multiple times per week. I play other games too (path of exile 2, bg3, Stellaris), but usually not that many at once. I’ll probably pickup the new civ in 6-8 months once it has an expansion.
  2. The Z Build(s) 3.0 - Go Big and/or Go Home

sounds like exactly what threadripper should be. 16-32 cores at high clockspeed with 2-4x the cache of the X3D parts. Of course, if AMD thought there would be money in that, they would be selling them. My wishlist does not apparently match the market well.
  3. OptiScaler’s New Experimental Update Enables AMD FSR 4 in Cyberpunk 2077, FFVII REBIRTH, and More for Radeon RX 9070 Series “RDNA 4” GPUs

If you needed more performance, you bought better hardware. For example, if your voodoo2 didn’t run quake ii fast enough at your desired resolution, you didn’t back off the resolution, you bought a second voodoo 2 and ran them in SLI. I let myself be bottlenecked by my screen for too long at...
  4. Retailers Are Building Borg Cubes out of the AMD Radeon RX 9070 Series Because RDNA 4 Stock Is So Good: “Resistance Is Futile”

I’m kind of amazed that the 9070s have sold out with that much stock. I thought most people (like 80% +) were NVIDIA only. Is there really that much demand?
  5. ASRock Addresses AMD Ryzen 9000 Series CPU Boot Issues with New 3.20 Beta BIOS for AM5 Series Motherboards

I've tried multiple different mouse pads... and none compare to the RatPadz I've had forever. Would buy a FPSReview in a heart beat.
  6. Samsung Delivers Breakthrough PCIe 5.0 Performance and up to 8 TB of Storage Capacity with 9100 PRO Series SSDs

lol, caught me just reading the headline in the news section here. I'd prefer MLC, but I suppose TLC isn't terrible. Might be worth grabbing the 8TB model just for the larger cache size.
  7. Samsung Delivers Breakthrough PCIe 5.0 Performance and up to 8 TB of Storage Capacity with 9100 PRO Series SSDs

At this point, I don't particularly care about sustained sequential read / write, and I don't care about 8TB. What is the random 4k performance? What is the latency of the NAND? How much DRAM cache does it have? If those values are market leading, I'm fine with a 1TB drive or a 8TB drive.
  8. The Z Build(s) 3.0 - Go Big and/or Go Home

Have you tried any ham radio supply stores? They are the last big DIY electronics market that I’m aware of
  9. The Z Build(s) 3.0 - Go Big and/or Go Home

I’ve got an Ehiem 1250 that’s been working fine since 2003 in various loops, and several d5s, all of which still run. Only had the one bayrez ddc fail.
  10. The Z Build(s) 3.0 - Go Big and/or Go Home

The only pump I’ve ever burned out is a DDC. I had one in a swiftech bayrez (version 1 of this: http://www.swiftech.com/MaelstromV2.aspx) and had it tucked in an area with basically no airflow and no heatsink. I chalked it up to user error, and moved on, but if I ever did a DDC again, I’d have...
  11. The Z Build(s) 3.0 - Go Big and/or Go Home

lol, I have no idea if anyone sells a waterblock for a ddc, as if you wanted water cooled pumps you would usually run a D5.
  12. The Z Build(s) 3.0 - Go Big and/or Go Home

I love how those look on the side of the rack! If you ever need more cooling, you could rotate the rack and put 2 more on the other side :D A question for you - you’re planning multiple pumps and reservoirs but I’m not 100% sure where you are planning on mounting them. Have you considered...
  13. Graphics Card Manufacturers Raise Prices for RTX 5080 and RTX 5090 Premium Models to Astronomical Levels as MSRP Becomes a Mythical Beast

For me it all depends on when 5090 availability happens. If I can walk into a microcenter and buy one by, say, June, I might still be in. If it takes a year for there to be availability, maybe I just buy the inevitable 5080ti
  14. The Z Build(s) 3.0 - Go Big and/or Go Home

Instead of the mass of small pumps, have you considered using one of the larger Iwakis instead? It was something I was always interested in using, but I've never gone with anything other than a D5 or the old swiftech bayrez DDCs. http://martinsliquidlab.petrastech.com/Iwaki-RD-30-Pump-Review.html
  15. Overclocking NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 Founders Edition

That makes things more complex if the GPU clocks cap out at a certain place, especially if that is before you've reached the full power target for the card. If the GPU is only going to go to 3ghz and that's it regardless of any extra power limit on the card, might as well increase the mem...
  16. ASUS Launches Pre-Orders for the ROG Swift OLED PG27UCDM: “World’s First 27″ 4K OLED Gaming Monitor” Features DisplayPort 2.1a with 80 Gbps...

I really think a 36”, possibly curved, display would be the sweet spot for 4K. My 32” 16:9 4k honestly feels smaller than my old 30” 16:10 Dell u3011.
  17. NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 Founders Edition Video Card Review

That should be pretty easy to test with time available. System 1: Ryzen 9700X Down clocked, or even just set to 65w System 2: Ryzen 9800X3D pushed as high as you can go with clock run both systems at 4k and see if there is any significant difference
  18. Overclocking NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 Founders Edition

My question is, are there larger gains from CPU increase or memory increase? Can you decrease one to allow more power limit to increase the other? For example, if the GPU is the bottleneck, can mem clocks be reduced to increase power limit available to the GPU to eek out some extra MHZ?
  19. AMD States That a Dual 3D V-Cache Design for the Ryzen 9000X3D Series Simply Doesn’t Offer Enough Performance Gains to Justify Costs

It may not have had benefits for games, but I sure could have found uses for it in distributed computing.
