Well I'm not surprised. Though to be honest outside of initial release I don't know anyone cared or was caught off guard by the display connectivity.
 
If I recall correctly, the same things happened with HDMI 2.1. Radeons supported it first. Now even Intel Arc cards support DP 2.0 while nVidia is still on DP 1.4, but Radeons have been ahead of both with DP 2.1. Actually I think Radeons had DisplayPorts in general well before nVidia did. Doesn't usually matter for nVidia cuz by the time the newer port standards actually get used nVidia has caught up.
