Jeff Clarke, Dell Technologies COO, has updated investors as part of an earnings call for his company's Q4 2024 financials, and with it comes the news that NVIDIA is currently developing an AI accelerator that will consume as much as 1,000 watts of power.

I'm sorry is that really GOOD news? I mean are ai accelerators using 2000 watts now so cutting down to 1000 watts will be next level?
 
If the performance is there, and the technicians wear multiple levels of ear pro in their vicinity, what's the problem?
 
Amazon just bought a plot of land next to a nuclear power plant. They inked a deal with the 6th largest power plant in the US to buy carbon-free power direct. They anticipate the data center to use more than 900MW of power.

So, just using some back of the envelope math, that’s 450,000 of these accelerators, and the remainder the HVAC to keep them cool
