New Animated Super Mario Bros. Film Coming from Illumination and Nintendo in 2026

Illumination and Nintendo have announced that they are producing a new animated film based on the World of Super Mario Bros. following the success of last year's record-breaking movie, which managed to make $1,361,972,248 at the global box office after its release in April 2023.

The previous movie was probably the least offensive video-game-based movie I have ever seen. Not great, but after watching those two absolutely horrid Sonic movies that were CG + live-action, the SMB CG movie was a f*cking masterpiece. I don't know why that piece-of-sh1t Sonic movie got a sequel (and is sadly getting another one, and a Knuckles spin-off show), but this movie getting a sequel doesn't really bother me. Makes sense that it is getting one, I heard it did well. Not sure how or why, but I guess if you compare it to every other video game movie in existence, I guess it wasn't complete crap.
