A Terminator Anime Is Headed to Netflix

An anime based on James Cameron’s iconic cyborg assassin film franchise, Terminator, is headed to the world’s most popular streaming service. Netflix and Skydance announced the news in a press release published yesterday, which confirmed that the series would be produced in partnership with Production I.G. This is the legendary Japanese anime studio that was responsible for unforgettable hits such as Ghost in the Shell and the Neon Genesis Evangelion films.

Not too surprising. Companies absolutely believe there is more to be squeezed out of the old cash cow. Animation provides a unique opportunity to do so as it carries much lower production costs and far less risk. They can also potentially take more narrative risks. That being said, I expect the first few episodes will air on the safe side.

Should be stellar in anime form.....
 
For some reason I don't think american movies translate well into anime. There are a few un official star wars anime (offical ones coming soon to D+) and IMO it feels like watching Voltron or Robotech. The anime take on Matrix also didn't really "bond" with the movies.

I'd feel a better take would be a clone wars/rebels animation style.
