Amazon’s Crucible Game Flops, Returning to Closed Beta

How often does a game return to closed beta? Not often, but that’s exactly what’s happening with Amazon’s free-to-play, team-based PvP action shooter, Crucible. In an update posted today, developer Relentless Studios announced that it’d be hitting the rewind button at 9 AM PT (6 PM CET) tomorrow to take the poorly received game back to the drawing board.



“One of the biggest changes you’ll see is that we’re going to schedule dedicated time each week when we as devs will be playing with the community and soliciting feedback,” Relentless Studios explained. “The game will be accessible 24/7 so you can continue to self-organize matches with other players—we recommend joining our Discord server to find players to queue against. I did download it, and promptly regretted wasting the bandwidth.
 
I... wow. I've never seen a game launch and return to beta... but I have seen a game stuck in alpha for 7 years.
