It’s about to get harder for Amazon shoppers in the UK to buy things that they can’t afford. As noted in a revised document on one of its official support sites, Amazon will no longer accept Visa credit cards issued in the UK beginning on January 19, 2022. Visa debit cards can still be used, however.
From Amazon UK:
Starting 19 January, 2022 we will no longer accept Visa credit cards issued in the UK.
The following payment methods are available for use:
Visa credit (until 19 January, 2022)Visa debitMastercard credit and debitAmerican ExpressEurocardUK based Maestro
It’s unclear whether Amazon might be considering the same for other regions, but Visa has already voiced its disappointment regarding the decision. Amazon reportedly dropped Visa’s credit cards because of their high transaction fees.
