Despite releasing three years ago on the company’s aging Polaris architecture, AMD’s Radeon RX 580 graphics cards remain such a hot item for cryptocurrency miners that unscrupulous merchants in China have been attempting to trick owners into RMA’ing their GPUs due to a fictitious design flaw related to their PCBs. The fraudulent nature of the recall has been confirmed by AMD and XFX China, both of whom have issued statements clarifying that there’s nothing wrong with the Radeon RX 580 and to ignore the merchants’ requests to send the cards in for NVIDIA GeForce GTX replacements. According to Minerstat, AMD’s Radeon RX 580 offers an Ethereum hash rate of around 32 MH/s.
